Bihar B.Ed CET 2026 Notification Overview
BRABU released the CET-B.Ed 2026 prospectus on 27 April 2026, and online applications opened the same day. The prospectus confirmed that the test serves all universities of Bihar that run the B.Ed course. It also confirmed that the exam pattern and the qualifying-mark rule are the same as in recent cycles.
The main change this cycle is the conducting university. The 2024 and 2025 tests were run by Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, through a different portal. Older pages may still show LNMU and the old website, so follow the official BRABU notices for the 2026 session.

Bihar B.Ed CET Exam Pattern
Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
General English Comprehension (B.Ed) / General Sanskrit Comprehension (Shiksha Shastri) | 15 | 15 |
General Hindi | 15 | 15 |
Logical and Analytical Reasoning | 25 | 25 |
General Awareness | 40 | 40 |
Teaching-Learning Environment in Schools | 25 | 25 |
Total | 120 | 120 |
Each question has four options and carries one mark. There is no negative marking, and answers are marked on an OMR sheet with a blue or black ballpoint pen. The paper lasts two hours, with no separate time limit for each section.
What This Means for You
Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer can only cost you. Use elimination and mark an answer for every question before time runs out.
General Awareness decides rank: At 40 marks, it is one-third of the paper. Steady current-affairs and static GK preparation pays off more here than anywhere else.
Reasoning and teaching aptitude are scoring: Together they carry 50 marks and reward practice more than memory.
Do not ignore the languages: English and Hindi carry 30 marks combined. They are quick to attempt and easy to secure with regular grammar practice.
Bihar B.Ed CET Syllabus Summary
The official prospectus names the five sections but does not publish a topic-wise syllabus. The topics below are built from the section titles and from questions asked in previous years. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list.
Section | Important topics |
|---|---|
General English | Reading comprehension, synonyms and antonyms, idioms, error spotting, fill in the blanks, tenses, prepositions |
General Sanskrit (Shiksha Shastri) | Sandhi, samas, karak and vibhakti, shabd roop, dhatu roop, pratyay, unseen passage |
General Hindi | Sandhi, samas, paryayvachi, vilom, muhavare and lokoktiyan, shuddh vakya, apathit gadyansh |
Logical and Analytical Reasoning | Analogy, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, ranking, syllogism, non-verbal reasoning |
General Awareness | Current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, general science, Bihar GK |
Teaching-Learning Environment in Schools | Child development, learning and motivation, teaching methods, classroom management, evaluation, inclusive education, NEP 2020, RTE Act |
Admit Card, Answer Key and Result
The 2026 admit card was released on 1 June 2026 through the candidate login. The provisional answer key followed on 8 June 2026, and candidates could raise objections on 9 and 10 June 2026. The result was declared on 19 June 2026. Candidates could download their scorecard by logging in with their credentials. The scorecard shows marks out of 120 and the candidate's rank.
Qualifying Marks and Cut-off
Bihar B.Ed CET has an official minimum qualifying mark. Only candidates who reach it are eligible for counselling.
Category | Qualifying marks (out of 120), 2026 | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
Unreserved | 42 | 35% |
SC / ST / BC / EBC / Women / EWS / Divyang | 36 | 30% |
Qualifying is not the same as getting a seat. Admission depends on your rank, category and college choices. The nodal university does not publish an official college-wise closing cut-off, so figures you see elsewhere are estimates. Seats in government and constituent colleges fill at much higher scores than the qualifying mark. Treat any estimate as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above it. The Bihar B.Ed CET cut-off page tracks qualifying marks across cycles.
Bihar B.Ed Counselling 2026 and Admission Process
Counselling registration: Qualified candidates registered online from 22 to 28 June 2026. Registration is compulsory for anyone who wants a seat.
College choice filling: Candidates select at least 3 and at most 10 colleges, from one or more universities. Choices are submitted once and cannot be changed later.
Seat allotment: Seats are allotted on merit, category and preferences. A candidate who is allotted a college is not considered in later rounds, so list only colleges you will actually join.
Verification and admission: Candidates report to the allotted college with original documents, complete verification and pay the admission fee fixed by the college.
Vacant-seat rounds: After the regular rounds, remaining seats are filled through instant online admission. The final round runs from 29 September to 3 October 2026 on a first-come, first-served basis. A seat-reservation fee of Rs. 3,000 is paid to the college, and only candidates registered for counselling are eligible.
In minority colleges, 50% of seats are reserved for candidates from the respective minority community. Other reservations follow Bihar government rules. Course fees vary by college, so check the college list with fee details on the official portal before filling choices.
Career Scope After B.Ed in Bihar
A B.Ed is the professional qualification for teaching at the upper primary, secondary and senior secondary levels. After the course, candidates can appear for teacher eligibility tests and recruitment exams, such as Bihar STET, CTET Paper 2 and BPSC teacher recruitment for higher classes.
Note one important rule: following the Supreme Court's August 2023 judgment, B.Ed is not a valid qualification for primary teacher posts (Classes 1 to 5). If you want to teach primary classes, a D.El.Ed is the relevant course. Bihar also runs a separate entrance test for the four-year integrated B.Ed, which is not covered by CET-B.Ed.
How to Prepare for Bihar B.Ed CET
The exam rewards breadth and speed more than depth. A focused three-month plan is enough for most graduates.
Start with General Awareness: Read one newspaper daily and keep monthly current-affairs notes. Cover static GK, history, polity, geography and Bihar GK in rotation.
Build reasoning speed: Practise 20 to 25 reasoning questions every day. Focus on series, coding, blood relations and direction sense.
Learn teaching concepts in simple words: Study child development, learning theories, classroom management and NEP 2020. Many questions are situation-based, so think like a teacher in a real classroom.
Keep the languages warm: Spend 20 minutes a day on English and Hindi grammar and vocabulary. Shiksha Shastri candidates should replace English with Sanskrit grammar.
Use previous papers: Solve at least the last three years' papers to understand the difficulty level and the topics that repeat.
Mock Tests and Revision
In the final four to six weeks, take full-length timed mocks of 120 questions in 2 hours. Analyse each mock the same day: note wrong answers, questions that took too long, and questions you skipped but could have solved. Revise from this error log before the next mock. Track your accuracy and attempts so you can see steady progress.
