Teaching Exams

CG TET

CG TET is a recruitment exam, relevant to aspirants preparing for teaching and education-sector recruitment.

CG TET Study Material

The Chhattisgarh Teacher Eligibility Test (CG TET) is the state-level eligibility test for anyone who wants to teach Classes 1 to 8 in Chhattisgarh. It is conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board, widely known as CG Vyapam, in two papers: Paper 1 for primary teachers (Classes 1 to 5) and Paper 2 for upper primary teachers (Classes 6 to 8). Clearing CG TET does not give you a job by itself, but it is a required qualification for assistant teacher and teacher recruitment in the state.

The latest cycle, TET 2026, was held on 1 February 2026 and its result was declared on 19 March 2026. This page brings together the dates, eligibility, application fee, exam pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks, certificate validity and a practical preparation plan, with clear notes on what is confirmed and what is still tentative for the next cycle.

CG TET 2026

CG Vyapam opened online applications for TET 2026 on 13 November 2025. The exam was held on Sunday, 1 February 2026, in two shifts across 20 district headquarters, with Paper 1 in the morning and Paper 2 in the afternoon. The model answer key followed on 13 February 2026, and the final answer key and result were released together on 19 March 2026.

For the next cycle, the board's exam calendar released on 31 August 2026 lists the Teacher Eligibility Test for 26 September 2027. This is a proposed date. The application window, fee and any rule changes will only be confirmed when the official notification is published.

One administrative change is worth knowing. In March 2026 the Chhattisgarh Assembly passed a bill to set up a Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board, into which the Professional Examination Board is being merged. Some notices now also appear on the new board's website. Until the next TET notification clarifies this, keep checking the official CG Vyapam website and your registered mobile number and email.

  • Senior Secondary plus B.El.Ed: At least 50% in Class 12 and a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education.

  • Special education route: At least 50% in Class 12 and a two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8)

  • Graduation plus D.El.Ed: A graduate degree and a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Age limit and other conditions

There is no upper age limit for CG TET, and the last notification set a minimum age of 18 years. There is also no limit on the number of attempts. SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and Divyang candidates get up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying academic marks, as per NCTE norms.

Application Fee and How to Apply

The fee depends on your category and on whether you apply for one paper or both. The figures below are as per the last notification.

General (Unreserved)

Rs. 350

Rs. 600

OBC (Non-creamy layer)

Rs. 250

Rs. 400

SC, ST and Divyang

Rs. 200

Rs. 300

Under the state's fee policy, local residents of Chhattisgarh who actually appear in the exam get their exam fee refunded to the same bank account used for payment. Candidates who apply but do not appear do not get this refund.

Steps to apply

  1. Open the official CG Vyapam website and find the TET notice for the current cycle.

  2. Register or log in with your mobile number and create your profile.

  3. Choose Paper 1, Paper 2 or both, and fill in personal, category and qualification details.

  4. Upload your photograph and signature in the format given in the notification.

  5. Pay the fee online and save the confirmation page.

  6. Use the correction window if you notice an error; changes are not possible after it closes.

Applications are often rejected for avoidable reasons: a category claimed without a valid certificate, a qualification that does not match any NCTE route, or a blurred photograph. Check these before you pay.

CG TET Exam Pattern

Both papers have 150 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each, with no negative marking. Each paper runs for 2 hours 45 minutes. In TET 2026, Paper 1 was held from 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM and Paper 2 from 3:00 PM to 5:45 PM.

What this means for you

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank answer always scores zero, while an educated guess can only help.

  • Pedagogy runs through every section: Language, Mathematics and EVS sections each carry teaching-method questions, so pedagogy is worth far more than the 30 Child Development questions alone.

  • Paper 2 is decided by your subject choice: The 60-question subject section is 40% of the paper, so pick Mathematics and Science or Social Science based on what you plan to teach.

Some older pages show 210 questions for Paper 2 or a duration of 1.5 or 2.5 hours.

Qualifying Marks and Result

CG TET is a qualifying test, not a merit exam. There is no fixed number of seats, so everyone who reaches the minimum mark receives an eligibility certificate.

Category

General (Unreserved)

SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and Divyang

A few older pages show 40% or 55% for some reserved categories. Use the qualifying marks printed in the current information bulletin. The result shows your subject-wise and total marks with a qualified or not qualified status, and you can download it with your registered login. See the CG TET qualifying marks page for more detail.

CG TET Certificate Validity

The CG TET certificate is valid for life. NCTE extended the validity of all TET certificates from seven years to lifetime in 2021, and the change applies to earlier certificates as well. Qualified candidates download an e-certificate from the official portal after the result.

Keep in mind that the certificate only makes you eligible. Actual appointments happen through separate recruitment drives for assistant teachers and teachers, which have their own exams, vacancies and merit lists. You can also retake CG TET later to improve your score, which can help where recruitment rules give weight to TET marks.

How to Prepare for CG TET

Strong preparation for CG TET combines school-level subject knowledge with a clear understanding of how children learn. A simple plan works well for most candidates.

  1. Weeks 1 to 4, foundations: Read the Class 1 to 8 textbooks used in Chhattisgarh for your subjects, and start Child Development and Pedagogy with learning theories and inclusive education.

  2. Weeks 5 to 8, pedagogy in each subject: Cover the teaching-method topics for Hindi, English, Mathematics and EVS or Social Science. Make one page of notes per topic.

  3. Weeks 9 to 10, topic tests: Attempt short, timed tests on each section and keep an error log of wrong answers and slow questions.

  4. Final weeks, full-length practice: Take full mocks in the actual 150-question, 2 hours 45 minutes format, analyse each one the same day and revise from your error log.

CG TET mock tests

CG Vyapam does not publish an official mock test for CG TET, since the exam is held offline on OMR sheets. Previous model answer keys and notices are available on the CG Vyapam website. explore CTET preparation resources, since the pedagogy sections overlap heavily.
