Teaching Exams

REET

REET is a recruitment exam, relevant to aspirants preparing for teaching and education-sector recruitment.

REET Study Material

REET, the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers, is the state-level teacher eligibility test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER), Ajmer. It certifies whether you are eligible to teach Classes 1 to 5 (Level 1) or Classes 6 to 8 (Level 2) in Rajasthan's government schools. A REET pass does not give you a job by itself. It is the entry ticket to the state's primary and upper primary teacher recruitment, popularly called REET Mains, which the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) conducts separately.

The latest completed cycle is REET 2024, held on 27 and 28 February 2025. As of 11-10-2026, BSER has not published a notification for the next REET cycle on its official website. This page summarises the REET exam as it stood in the last cycle: dates, eligibility, fee, pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks, the link with REET Mains and a preparation plan. Each topic has its own detailed page, linked below.

REET 2024 Cycle and What Comes Next

BSER issued the short notification for REET 2024 (Vigyapti No. 01/2024) on 12-12-2024. Online applications ran from 16-12-2024 to 15-01-2025, admit cards were released from 19-02-2025, and the exam was held in three shifts. Level 1 was held in Shift 1, and Level 2 was held in Shifts 2 and 3, with scores normalised across the two Level 2 shifts. The board declared the result in May 2025 and later released the certificates on the same portal.

Two naming details confuse many candidates. First, BSER calls this cycle REET 2024 even though the exam took place in 2025. Second, RSSB's recruitment advertisements of November 2025 refer to the same exam as REET-2025. If you hold a certificate from the February 2025 exam, both names describe your result.

For the next cycle, no official date exists yet. Some websites print expected dates; treat them as guesses until the board publishes a notification. Keep checking the BSER website and plan your preparation so that you are ready within a 2 to 3 month window after any announcement.

REET Versus REET Mains

REET and REET Mains are two different exams run by two different bodies. Many candidates prepare for one while reading the rules of the other, so get this distinction clear before you plan.

The 2025 recruitment (Primary School Teacher for Level 1 and Upper Primary School Teacher for Level 2) was advertised by RSSB on 06-11-2025, and its exam was reported to be held in January 2026.

REET Eligibility in Brief

Level 1 (Classes 1 to 5)

You need Senior Secondary with at least 50 percent marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or Senior Secondary with 50 percent and a 4-year B.El.Ed, or Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed. A 45 percent Senior Secondary route applies to diplomas obtained under the NCTE Regulations 2002. Sanskrit education posts accept Varishtha Upadhyaya or Shastri routes.

Level 2 (Classes 6 to 8)

Common routes are Graduation with a 1-year B.Ed (45 or 50 percent depending on the NCTE regulations that applied to you), Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed, Senior Secondary with 50 percent and a 4-year B.El.Ed or integrated B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, and Post-Graduation with 55 percent and the 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.

Age and other conditions

The REET eligibility test has not prescribed an age limit in recent notifications. Age limits apply at recruitment: RSSB's 2025 advertisement set 18 to 40 years as on 01-01-2026, with relaxations. Reserved categories get a 5 percent relaxation in the qualifying marks of the academic qualification. Read the full REET eligibility criteria before you apply.

Application Fee and How to Apply

Fee (REET 2024)

Level 1 only

The fee was the same for all categories in the last cycle. You must hold the required qualification for each level you apply for.

  1. Open the official link: Go to rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in and open the REET link for the current cycle.

  2. Generate the challan: Enter your name, father's name, mother's name, level and mobile number, then choose e-Mitra, bank or online payment.

  3. Pay and verify: Pay the fee. The form opens only after the payment is verified against your challan number.

  4. Fill the form: Enter qualification details, Language I and Language II choices, and for Level 2 your subject group.

  5. Keep copies: Save the application and challan. Admit cards are only downloadable from the website, not sent by post.

Common mistakes include choosing the wrong level, picking a Language I you did not study, and entering a name that does not match your mark sheets. Corrections are allowed only in the window the board announces.

REET Exam Pattern

Both levels have 150 questions for 150 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes. Questions other than language sections are bilingual (Hindi and English).

Languages offered in the last cycle were Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi and Gujarati. The OMR sheet has five bubbles (A to E), while the question paper shows four options. If you choose not to answer, darken E. If you leave all five bubbles blank, one-third of that question's mark is deducted, and leaving more than 10 percent of questions completely blank makes you ineligible.

  • Attempt everything you can: A wrong answer costs nothing, so an educated guess is better than option E.

  • Never leave a row blank: Every question needs one of A, B, C, D or E darkened.

  • Budget OMR time: Keep 10 to 12 minutes at the end to check that all 150 rows are filled.

Older pages may still describe four-option OMR sheets or a different negative marking rule, so follow the instructions in the latest question booklet.

Qualifying Marks and Certificate Validity

REET is qualifying. General category candidates need 60 percent (90 out of 150). For recruitment eligibility in 2025, RSSB applied 55 percent for SC, OBC, MBC and EWS candidates and for ST candidates outside the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) area, 36 percent for ST candidates in the TSP area and Sahariya candidates, 50 percent for widows, divorced women and ex-servicemen, and 40 percent for persons with disabilities. The REET certificate has been reported as valid for life since the state's 2022 decision; confirm this on your certificate and in the next notification.

Result and Normalisation

Because Level 2 ran in two shifts, BSER scaled raw scores subject-wise using a mean and standard deviation formula published on the result portal. Your scaled score, not your raw score, decides whether you cross the qualifying line. Reported figures put the REET 2024 pass percentage at 62.33 percent for Level 1 and 44.69 percent for Level 2; these are media figures, not an official statistical release.

Level 1, Level 2 or Both: How to Decide

Your qualification usually makes the choice for you, but many candidates are eligible for both levels and have to decide whether the extra Rs. 200 and a second paper are worth it.

Your profile

Sensible choice

Why

D.El.Ed only, no B.Ed

Level 1, and Level 2 only if you are a graduate

Level 1 recruitment requires the D.El.Ed; graduation plus D.El.Ed also opens Level 2

Graduate with B.Ed

Level 2

The 2025 Level 1 advertisement made the D.El.Ed compulsory, so B.Ed alone does not lead to Level 1 posts

Graduate with D.El.Ed and B.Ed

Both levels

Two certificates widen the recruitment options for the same preparation core

Strong in one Level 2 subject group only

Level 2 in that group

The 60-mark section carries the paper, so play to your strength

If you take both, remember that the papers sit in different shifts, and that Child Development and Pedagogy and the two languages overlap heavily. That overlap is why preparing for both adds less work than it seems.

How to Prepare for REET

  • Weeks 1 to 6: Build Child Development and Pedagogy concepts and your Language I grammar, because both appear in every level.

  • Weeks 4 to 10: Cover your subject sections (Maths and EVS for Level 1; your Level 2 group), adding the pedagogy questions that sit inside each subject.

  • Weeks 6 to 12: Take topic tests and sectional tests, and keep an error log of concepts you get wrong.

  • Final phase: Solve the official REET 2024 question booklets and full-length mocks in a strict 150-minute slot, then revise from your error log.

Your study time should follow the marks. In Level 2, the 60-mark subject section decides most outcomes, while in Level 1 the five equal sections reward balance. For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt REET online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see where marks leak. The REET mock test series and REET study notes pages explain how to use both well.

After You Qualify REET

Once you have the certificate, your next target is the RSSB recruitment for your level. In the 2025 advertisement, merit was prepared on the main exam marks and followed by document verification, so REET acted as the gate rather than the ranking. Start Mains topics such as Rajasthan's geography, history and culture early, because the Mains tests them in far more depth than REET does.
