Description

. The Cerebrum (The Thinking Brain)

The largest part of the brain, divided into two hemispheres and covered by a wrinkled outer layer called the cerebral cortex. It is responsible for high-level functions and is split into four distinct lobes:

Frontal Lobe: Manages decision-making, planning, problem-solving, personality, and voluntary movement.

Parietal Lobe: Processes sensory information like touch, temperature, taste, and spatial awareness.

Temporal Lobe: Handles hearing, language comprehension, and memory storage.

Occipital Lobe: Dedicated entirely to visual processing (shapes, colors, and mThe Cerebellum (The Coordinator)

Located at the back of the head beneath the cerebrum, the cerebellum (or "little brain") coordinates sensory inputs to regulate balance, posture, and smooth, precise muscle movements. It is the center for motor skills and muscle memory.

3. The Brainstem & Deep Structures (The Control Center)

Connecting the brain to the spinal cord, the brainstem acts as the body's autopilot, controlling vital involuntary functions like breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure.

Tucked deeply inside the brain above the brainstem are critical regulatory structures:

Thalamus: The brain's central relay station that routes sensory information to the cortex.

Hypothalamus: Maintains internal balance (homeostasis) by regulating hunger, thirst, sleep, and hormones.

Limbic System: Includes the amygdala (emotional and fear responses) and the hippocampus (formation of long-term memories).otion
