BPSC Judicial Services Cut Off: Previous Marks and Target Setting

The BPSC Judicial Services cut off is the minimum score at which a candidate stays in the merit list for a category. For the 33rd BJS (Advt. No. 12/2026), no cut-off exists yet, because the Preliminary Examination was postponed and later stages have not been held. This page explains how cut-offs work, shows the last cycle's figures as reported, and helps you set a realistic target.

BPSC publishes results and category-wise cut-offs on its official website: https://bpsc.bihar.gov.in/. We could not open the official result PDFs, so the figures below come from secondary reports and must be treated as indicative, not official.

How cut-offs work in this exam

Different stages have different cut-offs, and they should not be mixed up.

  • Preliminary: Screening only. Marks are not carried forward, and BPSC decides how many candidates move to Mains under the advertisement.

  • Mains (written) cut-off: The lowest Mains merit total among candidates called for the interview, category-wise.

  • Final cut-off: The lowest combined Mains and interview total among the selected candidates in each category.

Previous cut-off: 32nd BJS (as reported)

The 32nd cycle figures reported by third-party sources are below. The "written" column appears to be the Mains merit total (out of 850) and "final" the Mains plus interview total (out of 950), but stage labels and maximum marks were not stated by those sources. Verify them against the BPSC result notice before using them.

Women-category figures for some groups differed slightly in the reports, so they are left out here. No official 2026 cut-off has been published, and any "expected 2026 cut-off" on other websites is an estimate, not an official figure.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: Hard descriptive papers push cut-offs down.

  • Vacancies: The 33rd cycle advertised 173 posts, more than the revised number in the 32nd, which can change the margin in each category.

  • Candidates in the race: More serious candidates raise the competition for the same posts.

  • Qualifying rules: Minimum percentages in papers and the interview decide who stays in the list.

How to set your target

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

  1. Start from your category: Take the previous final figure for your category and add a margin for a harder year.

  2. Split it by paper: Divide the Mains target across the compulsory and optional papers and note the weakest one.

  3. Plan the interview: A good interview score can improve your rank, but it cannot rescue a poor written total.

  4. Benchmark with practice: Take timed tests regularly.
