CA Intermediate Study Notes 2027: What to Include and How to Revise
Use CA Intermediate study notes for fast, paper-wise revision of Accounting Standards, law provisions, tax rules and formulas before your exam.
CA Intermediate study notes turn six long papers into material you can revise in the final weeks. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) study material is the base, but it runs to thousands of pages. Good notes compress it into provisions, formats, formulas and the mistakes you personally make, so that your last revision before the January 2027 or May 2027 exam is fast and focused.
This page explains what to put in your notes for each paper, how to organise them, when to revise, and how notes fit with mock tests.
What to include, paper by paper
Paper | What your notes should hold |
|---|---|
Advanced Accounting | One page per Accounting Standard with scope, key treatment and a solved example; Schedule III format; buy-back and amalgamation entries |
Corporate and Other Laws | Section number, provision in short and time limits or thresholds; General Clauses Act definitions; FEMA key terms |
Taxation | Computation formats for each head of income, deduction limits, TDS rates and due dates; GST supply rules, ITC conditions and time limits |
Cost and Management Accounting | Formula sheet for variances, EOQ, labour turnover and overhead rates; cost sheet and process account formats |
Auditing and Ethics | Standards on Auditing by number with objective and key requirements; CARO clauses; audit report elements |
FM and SM | Ratio, cost of capital, leverage and capital budgeting formulas; SM frameworks and models with one-line examples |
How to organise your notes
Short notes per chapter: One to three pages per chapter, written after you finish it, not before.
Formula and format sheets: A separate set for practical papers that you can revise in under an hour.
Amendment sheet: A running list of amendments and notifications applicable to your session. Keep Taxation especially current: ICAI has announced the Income-tax Act, 2025 for exams from May 2027.
Error log: A notebook of every mistake from tests and mocks, grouped by paper, with the correct method next to it.
MCQ traps list: Short notes on case-scenario MCQs you got wrong and the fact you missed.
Revision schedule
Weekly: Re-read the notes for chapters finished that week and add anything you found hard.
Monthly: Do one full pass of all notes for the papers you have covered.
Last 6 weeks: Revise one paper's notes the day before each full-length mock in that paper.
Last week before each paper: Revise only your notes, formula sheets, amendment sheet and error log, not the full study material.
Reliable sources for notes
ICAI study material: The base text for every paper, marked by applicable exam session.
Revision Test Papers and Mock Test Papers: Show how ICAI frames questions and which amendments it tests.
Suggested answers to past papers: Show the presentation and depth examiners expect.
