Exam Pattern

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is structured to assess a candidate's aptitude in various key areas. The exam consists of five sections:

English Language: This section includes comprehension passages, grammar, and vocabulary-based questions. It tests the candidate’s ability to understand and interpret information from written texts.

Current Affairs, including General Knowledge: Questions in this section are designed to evaluate the candidate's awareness of current events, historical events of significance, and general knowledge. Topics may include national and international news, important dates, and events.

Legal Reasoning: This section focuses on assessing the candidate's ability to apply legal propositions and principles to various scenarios. It includes questions based on legal matters, public policy questions, and moral philosophies.

Logical Reasoning: This section tests the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links, and rectify illogical arguments. It includes puzzles, critical reasoning, and analytical reasoning questions.

Quantitative Techniques: This section covers elementary mathematics, such as arithmetic, algebra, and data interpretation. Questions are based on graphs, charts, and other data sets to test the candidate’s ability to handle quantitative data.

Eligibility

To be eligible for CLAT, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).

Age Limit: Candidates should be below 20 years of age (22 for SC/ST candidates) as on 1st July of the year of the examination.
