IBPS SO Eligibility 2026: Age, Qualification and Posts
IBPS SO eligibility for CRP SPL-XVI depends on three things: the post you apply for, your degree, and your age on 1 July 2026. Candidates must be 20 to 30 years old on that date, hold the degree prescribed for their post with the result declared on or before 21 July 2026, and meet the nationality conditions. The cycle is for vacancies of 2027-28, and applications closed on 26 July 2026 after an extension.
This page lists the qualification for each of the six posts, the age limit and category-wise relaxation, nationality rules and the common reasons candidates are rejected. It is based on the official notification dated 1 July 2026, so use it to check whether you qualify now and to plan for the next cycle.

Rules that decide borderline cases
Result deadline: The final result must be declared on or before 21 July 2026. Candidates must produce proof from the board or university at the interview stage.
Specialisations: For HR and Marketing, if you have dual specialisations, one of them must be the prescribed field. For major and minor specialisations, the major must be the prescribed stream. A postgraduate degree or diploma with more than two specialisations is not eligible.
Computer knowledge: For posts other than IT Officer, candidates should hold a certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations or language, or should have studied Computer or Information Technology as a subject in school, college or institute.
Percentage: Percentage in graduation or postgraduation is calculated to two decimals on aggregate marks across all semesters or years. Fractions are ignored, so 59.99 percent counts as less than 60 percent. CGPA or OGPA must be converted into percentage as per the university norms, with proof at interview.
Age limit
The minimum age is 20 years and the maximum is 30 years as on 1 July 2026. The maximum applies to General and EWS candidates, and the following relaxations apply to the upper limit.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe | 5 years |
Other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer) | 3 years |
Persons with benchmark disability | 10 years |
Ex-servicemen and eligible commissioned officers | 5 years |
The SC, ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) relaxation is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the other two categories, persons with benchmark disability or ex-servicemen. Ex-servicemen must have served at least 5 years and been released on completion of assignment, and those still serving must show a certificate that they will be relieved on or before 20 July 2027. Certificates are checked in original at the interview stage.
Nationality and other conditions
A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 to settle permanently, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from certain listed countries to settle permanently in India. The last three groups need a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
OBC candidates: A non-creamy layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 is required. Creamy layer candidates should apply as General.
EWS candidates: A family income below Rs. 8 lakh and the prescribed asset limits apply. The certificate should be valid for 2026-27 for the financial year 2025-26.
Persons with disability: Only benchmark disabilities of at least 40 percent in the listed categories are eligible for reservation. Certificates marked "likely to improve" under temporary disability do not qualify for reservation.
Government and PSU employees: A No Objection Certificate from the employer is required at the interview, and it must not name any one participating bank.
Merely applying or qualifying does not guarantee a job. The participating bank has the final say and can reject a candidature after provisional allotment.
Who is not eligible
Result not declared by 21 July 2026: Final-year students whose result came later are not eligible this cycle.
Wrong stream: A degree outside the listed streams for the post, or a part-time MBA or diploma where full-time is required.
Over or under age: Anyone born before 2 July 1996 (General or EWS) or after 1 July 2006.
Multiple applications: Candidates who apply for more than one post.
Changed category: A category change is not allowed after the edit window, and fields such as name, email, mobile number, post and nationality cannot be edited.
Fee and documents
The fee was Rs. 175 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates and Rs. 850 for all others, inclusive of GST. At the interview stage you need proof of date of birth, mark sheets, category certificates and a photo identity.
