ISRO Scientist Cut Off 2025 and 2023: Discipline-Wise Marks

Official written test cut-offs, qualifying marks and a target score for the ISRO Scientist/Engineer 'SC' CBT.

The ISRO Scientist cut-off is the lowest written test score at which ISRO shortlisted candidates for the Scientist/Engineer 'SC' interview. The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) publishes it for each discipline after the answer keys are finalised, along with separate minimum qualifying marks for Part A and Part B.

This page lists the official cut-offs from the last two written tests, held on 26 October 2025 and 7 January 2024, shows how they moved, and helps you set a realistic target for the CBT on 29 October 2026. Use the numbers as a benchmark, not a prediction.

ISRO Scientist Cut Off 2025

These cut-offs are for the written test held on 26 October 2025 under Advertisement ICRB:02(EMC):2025, as per ISRO's notice dated 29 January 2026. Marks evaluated are below 100 because some questions were dropped after the answer key review.

ISRO Scientist Cut Off 2023

For the written test held on 7 January 2024 (Advertisement ISRO:ICRB:02(EMC):2023), ISRO issued revised cut-offs on 30 May 2024 after correcting an evaluation error in Part B.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Crossing the cut-off is not enough on its own. Candidates must also score at least 50% in Part A and 50% in Part B separately (40% in each for PwBD candidates). Only those who clear both are considered for shortlisting. The 2025 minimums were:

Discipline

Part A minimum

Part B minimum

Electronics

39.50 out of 79

9.5 out of 19

Mechanical

40.00 out of 80

9.5 out of 19

Computer Science

38.50 out of 77

9.5 out of 19

A strong technical score cannot rescue a weak aptitude section, so do not leave Part B preparation to the last week.

Mechanical

Computer Science

Electronics stayed close to half marks in both years, Mechanical edged up, and Computer Science rose by about five percentage points. Computer Science also has the fewest posts this cycle (21 in BE003), which usually keeps competition tight.

What Affects the ISRO Scientist Cut-Off

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher Part A lowers raw scores across the board, and the cut-off falls with them.

  • Vacancies: ISRO calls candidates in a 1:5 ratio to posts, so fewer posts mean a smaller, more selective shortlist.

  • Number of candidates: More serious applicants in a discipline push the last shortlisted score up.

  • Dropped questions and negative marking: Dropped questions change the marks evaluated, and the one-third penalty in Part A pulls raw scores down.

How to Set Your Target for 2026

Cut-offs change every cycle with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat the figures above as a benchmark and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

  • Working target: About 5 to 8 marks above the higher of the last two cut-offs for your discipline, which is roughly 55 to 58 for Electronics, 61 to 64 for Mechanical and 62 to 65 for Computer Science. These are planning targets, not official figures.

  • Think beyond shortlisting: Written marks carry 50% of the final merit, so every extra mark also lifts your final rank after the interview.

  • Check both parts: In every mock, confirm you are above the Part A and Part B minimums as well as the overall target.
