JAIIB Pass Marks 2026: Is There a Cut-off?

Many candidates search for the JAIIB cut-off expecting a category-wise table like the ones published for bank recruitment exams. JAIIB does not work that way. The Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) sets fixed pass marks in its rules, and every candidate who reaches them passes, regardless of how many others sit the exam or how they score.

This page explains the JAIIB pass marks, the aggregate rule that lets some candidates pass with less than 50 in a paper, how credits carry forward, and how to set a safe target score in your preparation.

JAIIB Pass Marks

Rule

Requirement

Paper-wise pass

At least 50 out of 100 in a paper

Aggregate pass

At least 45 in each paper and 50% in aggregate across all papers, in a single attempt

Negative marking

None

Category-wise relaxation

None; the same pass marks apply to every candidate

These rules come from the current JAIIB Rules and Syllabus published by IIBF. They apply to all four papers.

How the Two Pass Rules Work: Examples

Scores (IE & IFS, PPB, AFM, RBWM)

Total out of 400

Result

52, 58, 50, 61

221

Passes all four papers under the paper-wise rule

47, 54, 46, 53

200

Completes JAIIB under the aggregate rule: every paper is 45 or more and the aggregate is exactly 50%

48, 49, 55, 47

199

Aggregate is below 50%, so only AFM (55) is passed and credited

62, 44, 58, 60

224

Aggregate rule fails because PPB is below 45; three papers are passed and credited, PPB must be retaken

Papers you pass are retained until your time limit expires: five attempts within three years of first registration. The rules describe the aggregate route as applying to all subjects in a single attempt, so if you are carrying credits from an earlier attempt, confirm with IIBF how it applies to your remaining papers.

Class of Pass

JAIIB also awards a class, judged on your first physical attempt:

  • First Class with Distinction: 70% or more in aggregate and at least 60 in each paper.

  • First Class: 60% or more in aggregate and a pass in all papers.

  • Pass Class: All other successful candidates.

Why JAIIB Has No Previous Year Cut-off

Recruitment exams fill a limited number of posts, so the cut-off moves with vacancies, difficulty and the number of applicants. JAIIB fills no posts. It certifies that you have reached a set standard, so the pass mark stays fixed from one attempt to the next.

That is why IIBF does not publish category-wise or year-wise cut-off tables for JAIIB. Any "JAIIB cut-off" figure you see that differs from the 50 and 45-with-50%-aggregate rules is not an official IIBF figure. What does change between attempts is the paper itself: one AFM paper may be more calculation-heavy than another, so the effort needed to reach 50 can vary.

Official rules and notices are on the IIBF JAIIB page: https://www.iibf.org.in/jaiib-junior-associate-IIBF

How to Set Your Target Score

  • Aim for 60 in practice: A target of about 60 per paper in timed mocks gives you a 10-mark cushion for a harder paper or a bad day.

  • Protect the 45 floor: If you plan to rely on the aggregate rule, no paper can fall below 45. Do not ignore your weakest paper.

  • Answer every question: With no negative marking, blanks are lost marks.

  • Track by module: Note which modules cost you marks in each test and revise them first.
