NCERT LDC Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Typing Speed
NCERT LDC eligibility rests on three things: a Class 12 pass, a computer typing speed, and an age limit counted on a fixed date. These rules apply to the Lower Division Clerk post under Advertisement No. 01/2025, the Non-Academic Direct Quota Recruitment 2025. The official FAQ fixes 16 January 2026 as the cut-off date by which all eligibility conditions must be met.
The application window for this cycle has closed, and the CBT was held on 15 May 2026. This page sets out the rules so you can check your eligibility for the next cycle, which is likely to follow similar conditions. Where a figure could not be confirmed from an official NCERT text, it is marked as indicative.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent exam from a recognised board. The qualification must be complete by the eligibility cut-off date. The official FAQ notes that candidates may upload a provisional certificate or marksheet if the final document has not yet been issued, so keep proof that the result was declared before the cut-off date.
Typing speed requirement
The official scheme requires a computer typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. That equals 10,500 key depressions per hour in English or 9,000 in Hindi, based on an average of 5 key depressions per word. You do not need a typing certificate to apply, but you must clear this speed in the typing test after the CBT.
NCERT LDC Age Limit
The upper age limit for LDC is reported as 27 years, counted as on the eligibility cut-off date of 16 January 2026. We could not confirm this figure from the advertisement text, so treat it as indicative and check the post-wise table in the advertisement PDF. For the current cycle, a candidate aged 27 must have been born on or after 17 January 1998 to fall within the limit, if the 27-year figure applies.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
SC/ST | 5 years |
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 3 years |
PwBD | 10 years |
Ex-Servicemen and government servants | As per central government rules |
One rule from the official FAQ is easy to miss: age relaxation applies only to the category for which a vacancy is reserved. If a post or vacancy is unreserved, SC, ST and OBC candidates can apply within the general age limit but do not get the extra years.
Nationality and Other Conditions
Nationality: As laid down in the advertisement under central government rules.
Contact details: Use an email ID and mobile number you will keep for the whole process, since NCERT sends all updates there.
Experience: Not required for LDC. Where any post asks for experience, NCERT counts it only after the essential qualification.
Posting: Selected candidates can be posted at NCERT Headquarters in New Delhi or its constituent units across India.
Who Is Not Eligible
Result after the cut-off date: Candidates whose Class 12 result was declared after 16 January 2026 did not meet the condition for this cycle.
Over the age limit: Candidates above the limit without a valid category or PwBD relaxation.
Wrong category claims: Claiming relaxation for a vacancy not reserved for your category.
Typing speed not met: Candidates who cannot reach 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi will not clear the typing test.
