OSSSC Nursing Officer Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Marks and How to Set Your Target
As of 23 October 2026, OSSSC has not published an official cut-off for the Nursing Officer written test held on 22 and 23 September 2026 (Advertisement No. IIE-54/2026). The result had not been announced either, and the provisional answer key notice dated 29 September 2026 carries no cut-off. This page explains what is known, what is not, and how to set a realistic target without relying on guesses.
What cut-off means for this exam
The Nursing Officer recruitment has a single written test of 100 marks, so there is no sectional cut-off by stage. Two ideas matter:
Qualifying marks: the minimum score needed to be considered at all. Reports of the advertisement mention 35 percent for general candidates and 30 percent for ST, SC, PwD, ex-servicemen and sportspersons. This is tentative and should be checked in the official document.
Merit cut-off: the score at which the last candidate in a category and district is selected. This depends on vacancies and competition, and is known only after the result and final merit list.
Previous cut-off
Item | Status for the 2026 cycle |
|---|---|
Official category-wise cut-off | Not published |
Result date | Not announced |
Qualifying marks | 35 percent general; 30 percent for reserved groups (tentative) |
Normalisation across shifts | Reported, formula to be notified by the commission |
Some websites show expected cut-off ranges for this exam. These are unofficial estimates, so they are not reproduced here and should not be treated as fact.
What affects the cut-off
Difficulty across shifts: with five shifts, the commission normalises scores, so your raw score is not the final number.
District-wise vacancies: the 5,989 posts are spread over 30 districts, so the cut-off can differ by district and category.
Number of applicants: more candidates in a district push the merit line up.
Negative marking: with 0.25 marks lost per wrong answer, careless guessing lowers the final score.
How to set your target
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any earlier figure as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above it rather than a bare pass.
Calculate your score: correct answers minus one quarter of wrong answers. Use the response sheet and the provisional key from your candidate login.
Set a margin: if you are preparing for the next cycle, target a score well above the 35 percent qualifying line, since selection happens on merit within a district and category.
Protect the easy marks: aim for near-full marks in arithmetic and English, which are 15 of 100 marks.
Benchmark with mocks: track accuracy and attempts across timed tests, not only the final score.
