PGIMER Nursing Officer Cut Off: Qualifying Marks 2026

The PGIMER Nursing Officer cut off for the current cycle has not been released, because the computer based test is yet to be held (revised date: 18 November 2026). What PGIMER has published is a set of minimum qualifying marks and a shortlisting rule. This page explains both, and shows how to set a realistic score target without relying on unverified numbers.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any figure on this page as a benchmark only. Official results and any cut-off or merit list are published on the official PGIMER website.

Official qualifying marks, 2026 cycle

The notification for Advertisement No. PGI/RC/055/2026/2276 sets minimum qualifying marks in the 100-mark CBT. These are eligibility minimums, not final selection cut-offs.

Net marks mean marks after negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer. The exam format is explained on the PGIMER Nursing Officer exam pattern page.

How shortlisting works

Qualifying does not mean you will be called for verification. The notification states that shortlisting is category-wise, with roughly three candidates per post, plus ties and reserved-category candidates scoring above the unreserved cut-off. In practice:

  • Rank matters: with 243 posts, the shortlist is about three times the number of posts in each category, so your position in your category decides the call-up.

  • The effective cut-off is decided after the exam: it is the score of the last shortlisted candidate in your category and is known only when results are out.

  • Ties are broken by rules: fewer wrong answers come first, then earlier date of birth, then 10+2 and Matriculation percentages.

Previous cut-off data

There is no officially verified category-wise merit cut-off for earlier PGIMER Nursing Officer drives available for this page. Several third-party pages show percentile-style numbers for PGIMER, but they do not cite an official PGIMER document for Nursing Officer posts and some appear to relate to other PGIMER entrance exams. We have therefore not reproduced them. When an official cut-off or result notice is published, it will be a better benchmark than any estimate.

What you can rely on is the structure: a minimum qualifying percentage, followed by category-wise rank-based shortlisting.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: a harder paper lowers the scores of everyone, and the shortlist cut-off falls with it.

  • Number of vacancies: more posts means a longer shortlist and a lower effective cut-off.

  • Number of candidates and their quality: a larger pool of well-prepared nurses pushes the cut-off up.

  • Category: UR, OBC, SC, ST and EWS each have their own post counts, so each has its own shortlist and cut-off.

  • Negative marking: because wrong answers reduce net marks, accuracy directly shapes your rank.

How to set your target score

  1. Clear the qualifying bar with room to spare: aim well above 40 net marks, because a bare pass carries a risk if the paper feels harder than expected.

  2. Use mock averages as a benchmark: if your average over the last five full-length mocks is steady, plan to score a few marks above it on exam day rather than count on a jump.

  3. Track accuracy, not just attempts: aim to keep wrong answers low, since fewer wrong answers is also the first tie-breaker.

  4. Aim for a clear margin above last year's level: once an official cut-off appears for any drive, aim for a clear margin above it rather than a bare pass.
