Punjab Police ASI Cut Off: Qualifying Marks and How to Set Your Target
The Punjab Police ASI cut off for the upcoming recruitment does not exist yet. The department has approved 450 direct-recruitment ASI posts, but as on 22 October 2026 the notification, the exam and the result are all still ahead. We also could not verify any official cut-off for earlier ASI recruitments on https://punjabpolice.gov.in/, so this page does not show any marks as official. Instead, it explains how the cut-off is likely to work and how to set a target that does not depend on a number you cannot see yet.
What cut-off means in this recruitment
In a recruitment like this, the word can refer to three different things. Which of them applies will be clear from the notification.
Qualifying marks: The minimum a candidate needs in a paper, such as the reported Punjabi qualifying paper, to be considered further.
Sectional cut-off: A minimum in each paper or section, if the notification sets one.
Merit cut-off: The score of the last candidate shortlisted for the next stage or selected, which depends on vacancies and category.
The reported structure has two merit papers of 400 marks each and a qualifying Punjabi paper of 50 marks, for a reported total of 850. This is third-party information and is not confirmed for the upcoming cycle.

Some websites may publish expected cut-offs. These are estimates, not department figures, and should not be used as targets. When the department publishes real figures, we will compare them with this page.
What affects the cut-off
Difficulty of the paper: A harder paper lowers the raw scores and the cut-off.
Number of vacancies: With 450 direct-recruitment posts approved, the merit line will depend on how the posts are split across cadres and categories.
Number of applicants: More applicants usually mean stiffer competition at the top.
Marking scheme: The negative marking rule, if any, changes the scores of careless attempts.
Later stages: Physical and document stages remove some candidates, which can affect the final merit position.
How to set your target score
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any earlier figure as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above it rather than a bare pass.
Aim for balanced sections: Do not depend on one strong subject, since a sectional minimum may apply.
Use accuracy as the first target: Reach 85 to 90 percent accuracy in the questions you attempt before you push for speed.
Track mock scores: Take at least eight to ten full mocks, and note your average and your best three scores. Your target should be a comfortable margin above your average.
Pass the Punjabi paper easily: Practise it until you score well above the likely qualifying line, whatever it is.
Update once results are known: After the department publishes any earlier cut-off or the result of this cycle, reset your target.
