RRB Staff Nurse Cut Off: Previous Year Marks and Target Score

The RRB Staff Nurse cut off is the lowest normalised CBT score at which candidates were shortlisted for document verification. It is set separately for each RRB, each railway unit and each community, so there is no single cut-off for the whole exam. In CEN 05/2026 the post is advertised as Nursing Superintendent, and the figures below belong to that post in the previous cycle, CEN 03/2025.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last cycle's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. No cut-off has been released for CEN 05/2026 because the CBT has not yet been held.

Source: RRB Ranchi part panel notice dated 28 July 2026 and RRB Secunderabad result notice dated 30 May 2026, both for CEN 03/2025. Not listed means the notice gave no figure for that category and unit. These are indicative figures from two RRBs only. Other RRBs published their own cut-offs, and many unreserved cut-offs for Nursing Superintendent across RRBs were in the 70s.

What Affects the Cut-off

  • Vacancies per RRB: A board with few nursing seats can have a very high cut-off because only the top scorers are shortlisted.

  • Number of applicants: Nursing is the largest post in the notice and attracts many candidates, which pushes cut-offs up.

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher professional section usually brings cut-offs down.

  • Normalisation: Scores across shifts are normalised, so your raw score can differ from your final score.

  • Negative marking: One-third of a mark per wrong answer lowers scores of candidates who guess heavily.

How to Set Your Target Score

For CEN 05/2026, a sensible working target is to aim 5 to 8 marks above the last cut-off for your RRB and category. For an unreserved candidate, that means scoring around 80 in full-length mocks. This is our guidance, not an official figure.

  1. Find your RRB's last cut-off: Use the official result notice of your chosen RRB for CEN 03/2025.

  2. Add a safety margin: Target 5 to 8 marks above it.

  3. Track mock scores: Take full-length mocks in the real 100-question, 90-minute format and watch your average, not one good score.

  4. Protect accuracy: Reduce wrong attempts in the professional section first.
