TSPSC Group 2 Eligibility 2026: Age and Qualification Guide

TSPSC Group 2 eligibility is set post by post in each notification of the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC, earlier TSPSC). For most Group-II Services posts you need a bachelor's degree and must fall within the age limit on the reference date, but a few posts ask for a specific subject, and the Prohibition and Excise Sub Inspector post has its own age band and physical standards.

This page uses Notification No. 28/2022, the latest Group-II notification, in which the qualification had to be held on the date of notification and age was counted as on 1 July 2022. As of 20 October 2026 no new Group-II notification has been released, so the next one will carry fresh reference dates. Use the rules below to check your position now, then confirm them against the new notification.

Local status and other conditions

Local reservation

Under the Telangana Presidential Order of 2018, 95% of zonal and multi-zonal posts are reserved for local candidates of that zone or multi-zone. Assistant Section Officer posts are state cadre posts, so local reservation does not apply to them.

A candidate is generally treated as local to an area where they studied for at least four consecutive academic years ending with the relevant qualifying exam, which for these posts works out to the lower of Class 7 and the post's minimum qualification. If you did not study in any institution in that period, residence for four years is considered instead. Keep your study certificates for Classes 1 to 7 ready, as the commission asks for them.
