Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission Auditor

UPSSSC Auditor is a recruitment exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, relevant to candidates preparing for recruitment at public sector undertakings and central institutions.

The UPSSSC Auditor exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) to fill Auditor and Assistant Accountant posts in Uttar Pradesh government departments and bodies. The current cycle runs under Advertisement No. 14-Exam/2026, and shortlisting depends on your PET score.

This page gives you the cycle at a glance, dates, vacancies, eligibility, fee, pattern, selection process, salary and preparation tips. Where a figure comes from secondary reports rather than the commission itself, it is marked tentative so you can verify it on the official site.

Vacancy Details

Reports put the vacancy count at 1,829, and one report mentions a revision to 1,937. The post-wise table in that same report adds up to 1,829, so treat both numbers as indicative until you check the final notification. Most posts are Assistant Accountant roles, with the largest share in the Directorate of Internal Audit and Accounts and the Municipal Council Directorate. A smaller number are Auditor posts, including Local Fund Accounts Examination. Category-wise numbers were not available in the sources we checked.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

Most posts ask for a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, and some Auditor posts accept a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy. An O Level computer certificate or diploma is required for most posts. Requirements differ by department, so read the post you are applying for.

PET and age

You must hold a valid UPSSSC PET score card. The age range is 21 to 40 years, and reports say age is counted as on 1 July of the advertisement year, with 5 years of relaxation for SC, ST and serving state government employees. Treat the as-on date and relaxation as tentative until you confirm them in the notification. The full details are on our eligibility page.

Application Fee

Reports show no application fee and an online processing charge of Rs. 25 for all categories. Candidates shortlisted for the mains pay a separate exam fee before the admit card is issued, so watch the commission notices for the amount.

Exam Pattern

The mains is a single objective paper with 100 questions, 100 marks and 120 minutes. Each wrong answer costs one-fourth of a mark.

Older pages may still show a 180-question, 150-minute paper with Hindi and reasoning, so follow the official notification. See the exam pattern page for section-wise marks.

Syllabus Summary

The commission lists subject areas rather than a detailed topic list, so the syllabus is built from those areas and past questions. Accounting and audit carry the most weight, followed by UP general knowledge and computers. The syllabus page breaks each area into topics.

Selection Process

  1. PET-based shortlisting: candidates are shortlisted category-wise from normalised PET scores, reportedly at 15 times the number of vacancies.

  2. Mains written exam: the objective paper described above.

  3. Document verification: for candidates selected on merit.

Salary

Reports place most posts in Pay Level 5, Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300, with pay varying by department and post. Some sources list Assistant Accountant at Level 4. This is not a confirmed figure for every post, and in-hand pay varies by city and allowances.

How to Prepare

Start with the accounting core, because Part 1 carries 65 of 100 marks. Learn final accounts, depreciation, bank reconciliation and taxation with solved problems, then add computer basics and a short daily reading of Uttar Pradesh facts and current affairs.

  • Weeks 1 to 6: concepts in accounting, audit and arithmetic.

  • Weeks 4 to 8: computer fundamentals and UP general knowledge.

  • From week 7: topic tests and sectional timing practice.

  • Final weeks: full-length mocks, same-day analysis and an error log.

Previous Cut-off Reference

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them. The UPSSSC Auditor cut-off page lists the marks reported for the 2024 advertisement.
