UPSSSC Forest Inspector Cut-off: Van Daroga Previous Cut-offs

The UPSSSC Forest Inspector cut-off is the minimum score the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission sets at each stage of the Van Daroga recruitment. There are two cut-offs to watch: the PET score needed to be shortlisted for the written exam, and the written exam score needed to reach the physical standards test. Both are category-wise.

The figures below come from the latest completed cycle, Advertisement 06-Exam/2022, for 701 posts. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

Written Exam Cut-off (2022 Cycle)

On 27 September 2023, the commission published these category-wise cut-offs for calling 1,697 candidates to the physical standards test. The written exam was out of 100 marks.

PET Shortlisting Cut-off (2022 Cycle, Indicative)

To shortlist 19,227 candidates for the written exam, the commission used PET-2021 normalised scores. The figures below are taken from a copy of the commission's notice dated 3 March 2023, which we could not open on upsssc.gov.in itself, so treat them as indicative.

Trend

Only one Van Daroga cycle has run under the PET system so far, so there is no year-on-year trend yet. A final cut-off after document verification was not available in the notices we could check. When the next cycle runs, compare its written cut-off with the 2022 figures to see whether the paper got harder or competition rose.

What Affects the Cut-off

  • Vacancies: More posts usually lower the cut-off. The 2022 cycle had 701 posts; the next count is not known.

  • PET competition: Because 15 times the vacancies are shortlisted on PET scores, the PET cut-off moves with the size and performance of that PET batch.

  • Paper difficulty: A tougher written paper pulls scores and cut-offs down.

  • Shifts and normalisation: If the written exam runs over several shifts, normalised scores are used, which can shift cut-offs.

How to Set Your Target

  • Written exam: If you are in the unreserved, OBC or EWS category, a target of 78 to 80 in timed practice gives you a working margin over the 2022 figure of 71.50.

  • Watch accuracy: With one-fourth of a mark lost per wrong answer, 80 correct and 10 wrong gives 77.5, so cut careless errors before adding attempts.

  • PET first: Your PET score decides whether you reach the mains at all, so aim well above the last shortlisting figures in your category.

Official result notices and cut-offs are published on upsssc.gov.in.
