SECTION A — Very Short Answer (1 mark each) — 6 marks

What is the SI unit of temperature?

Name the smallest particle of an element that can take part in a chemical reaction.

State the type of tissue that transports water in plants.

Define "inertia."

Write the full form of SONAR.

What is the value of "g" (acceleration due to gravity) on the surface of the Earth?

SECTION B — Short Answer (2 marks each) — 8 marks

Differentiate between evaporation and boiling.

Write two postulates of Dalton's atomic theory.

What is the difference between plant cells and animal cells? (any two points)

State Newton's second law of motion and write its mathematical formula.

SECTION C — Short Answer (3 marks each) — 9 marks

Explain the three states of matter and how interconversion between them takes place (heating/cooling).

Draw and label the structure of a neuron. (Describe if unable to draw)

A body is thrown vertically upward with an initial velocity of 20 m/s. Calculate the maximum height it reaches. (g = 10 m/s²)

SECTION D — Long Answer (5 marks each) — 5 marks

What is meant by the term "work" in physics? A force of 10 N moves a body through a distance of 5 m in the direction of the force. Calculate the work done. Also define the SI unit of work.

During a thunderstorm, you see the lightning first and hear the thunder a few seconds later, even though both occur at the same time.
