Army Clerk Agniveer

Army Clerk Agniveer is a recruitment exam for clerical cadre recruitment, relevant to candidates preparing for the armed forces and paramilitary recruitment.

Army Clerk Agniveer Study Material

Army Clerk Agniveer is the Agnipath scheme entry for Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper Technical (SKT) in the Indian Army. Candidates who have passed Class 12 apply online on the Join Indian Army portal, sit the online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) with a typing test, and then attend a recruitment rally run by their Army Recruiting Office (ARO) for physical tests, measurements, document checks and a medical examination. Those selected serve four years as Agniveers in office and stores roles.

This page covers the cycle for recruiting year 2027, whose notification opened online registration on 13 February 2026 and whose CEE for Clerk/SKT ran in June 2026. It summarises eligibility, the exam pattern, the syllabus, the Agniveer pay package, how merit works and how to prepare, and points you to the detailed sub-pages for each topic.

Where the 2026 Cycle Stands

The Army Recruiting Office notifications for recruiting year 2027 were released in February 2026 and are linked from the official Join Indian Army portal. Online registration ran from 13 February 2026 to 01 April 2026 as per the notification, and several reports say the window was later extended to 10 April 2026, so treat the extension as reported rather than confirmed from the notification itself.

The official admit card notice on the Join Indian Army portal placed Agniveer (Clerk and SKT) in the last group of exam days, on 09, 10 and 12 June 2026, with admit cards live from the evening of 21 May 2026. CEE results were reported to be out from 12 July 2026 as ARO-wise merit lists, and recruitment rallies have followed zone by zone.

As of October 2026, there is no new notification. If the Army follows its recent schedule, the next cycle (recruiting year 2028) should be notified around February 2027, with the CEE around June 2027. That timing is an expectation based on past cycles, not an announcement.

What a Clerk or Store Keeper Technical Does

Both roles sit in the administrative side of a unit. A Clerk handles documentation, records, correspondence and computer-based office work. A Store Keeper Technical maintains stores, ledgers and inventory of equipment and spares. Both are soldiers first and go through military training, but the daily work leans on English, arithmetic, accounts and computer skills. That is why this category asks for a higher Class 12 score and adds a typing test that the other Agniveer categories do not have.

Vacancies

The ARO notifications do not publish a category-wise vacancy figure for Clerk/SKT. Candidates are shortlisted for the rally "proportionate to the vacancies available" by applying a cut-off to CEE results, and final selection depends on merit within each ARO. Any Clerk/SKT vacancy number you see online is unofficial, so do not plan around it.

Eligibility in Brief

Educational qualification

You need Class 12 (10+2 or Intermediate) in any stream, Arts, Commerce or Science, with 60% marks in aggregate and at least 50% in each subject. Scoring 50% in English and in Maths, Accounts or Book Keeping in Class 12 is mandatory. Candidates awaiting results can apply but must show the original mark sheet during the rally.

Age limit

The notification gives an age band of 17.5 to 22 years, with date of birth between 01 July 2005 and 01 July 2009. Minimum age is reckoned on 01 January 2027 and maximum age on 01 July 2027. No category-wise age relaxation is listed.

Other conditions

  • Marital status: Only unmarried candidates can enrol, and Agniveers must not marry during the four years.

  • Gender: The Clerk/SKT notification invites unmarried male candidates.

  • Domicile: You apply to the ARO that covers your district of domicile.

  • Physical standards: Minimum height for Clerk/SKT is 162 cm in the Southern Plains notification, with chest 77 cm plus 5 cm expansion. Height varies by region, so check your ARO's notification.

For relaxations, bonus marks and the full list of disqualifiers, read the Army Clerk Agniveer eligibility guide.

Application Fee and How to Apply

The exam fee is Rs. 250 per category, paid online through the HDFC payment gateway with cards, net banking or UPI. Bank charges are extra. You can choose up to two Agniveer categories, but each needs a separate application, fee and CEE.

  1. Check eligibility and register: Log in on joinindianarmy.nic.in, check the eligibility status and create your profile with your highest qualification.

  2. Apply for the category: Choose Agniveer Clerk/SKT, enter Class 12 details and set category priorities if you pick two.

  3. Enter Aadhaar and measurements: Aadhaar is required, and height must be entered to the millimetre.

  4. Choose five exam centres: Clerk/SKT applicants can pick only centres with typing test facilities.

  5. Pay the fee and keep records: Pay Rs. 250, then save the application and payment confirmation.

Common reasons for rejection are duplicate or incomplete applications, a photo that does not match your face at the centre, names or date of birth that differ from your Class 10 certificate, and wrong height entries.

Exam Pattern Summary

Phase I is the online CEE in a multiple-choice format, offered in 13 languages. The notification says candidates answer either 50 questions in one hour or 100 questions in two hours depending on category, and the bonus mark table puts the Clerk/SKT total at 200 marks. Clerk/SKT was reported as a 60-minute paper in the 2025 exam schedule. A typing test runs during the CEE for this category, with 30 words per minute in English described as desirable, and only those who qualify it are called for the rally. Scores are normalised across sessions.

The paper covers General Knowledge, General Science, Mathematics, Computer Science and General English, with General English forming about half of the paper in previous patterns (indicative). The notification lists full marks for a correct answer and nil for an unattempted question, but does not spell out the deduction for a wrong answer, so read the instructions screen on exam day. Older pages may show a different split or duration, so rely on the current notification. The Army Clerk Agniveer exam pattern page breaks this down section by section.

The notification says run timings can be changed before a rally, so check the portal before your rally date. The run may take place on a road or hard surface, so train in proper running shoes.

Bonus Marks for Clerk/SKT

Bonus marks are fixed by your certificates, not by your CEE performance, and count only in the final merit. For Clerk/SKT, the notification lists 20 marks for sons of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, war widows and widows; up to 20 marks for sportsmen depending on level; 5, 10 and 15 marks for NCC A, B and C certificates; 20 marks for NCC C with Republic Day Parade; and 15 marks for a NIELIT O level (IT) course certificate or higher NIELIT IT certificates (A, B or C level). The maximum bonus for this category is 25 marks, even if you hold several certificates.

Selection Process

  1. Online CEE and typing test: Your normalised CEE score decides whether you make the rally list. The typing test is qualifying.

  2. Shortlisting: Each ARO applies a cut-off proportionate to vacancies and publishes roll numbers of candidates in merit.

  3. Physical Fitness Test: A 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9 ft ditch and zig-zag balance. For Clerk/SKT, these are qualifying only.

  4. Physical Measurement Test: Height, weight and chest against regional standards.

  5. Document verification and medical: Original certificates are checked, followed by an Army medical with a review option.

  6. Final merit: Prepared from the CEE score plus any eligible bonus marks, within available vacancies.

How to Prepare for Army Clerk Agniveer

  • Build English first: English has made up about half of the paper in recent patterns and the typing test is in English, so read daily and practise grammar every day.

  • Revise Class 10 maths and science: Most questions sit at school level, so speed and accuracy matter more than advanced topics.

  • Learn computer basics properly: Know MS Office functions, shortcuts and internet terms by practice, not by memory alone.

  • Type every day: Aim to sit comfortably above 30 words per minute with few errors well before the exam.

  • Start running early: Even though the PFT is qualifying for Clerk/SKT, a slow run or too few pull-ups ends your selection.

Once the basics are in place, take full-length tests in the 60-minute format. You can attempt Army Clerk Agniveer online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to spot weak areas in English, maths and computer awareness. The Army Clerk Agniveer mock test page explains how to schedule them.

Cut-off and Merit

The Army does not publish category-wise cut-off marks for the CEE. Shortlisting happens within each ARO, in proportion to its vacancies, so the score needed varies by region and year. Bonus marks for NCC, sports, wards of servicemen and NIELIT computer certificates are added only to the final merit.

Related Agniveer Entries

If you meet the Class 10 criteria for General Duty, compare this entry with Army GD Agniveer, which has a different paper and a scored PFT. For an overview of all categories, see Indian Army Agniveer. You can apply for up to two categories in one cycle, and Testkart test series for each entry let you practise both papers side by side.
