Army Clerk Agniveer 2026: Eligibility Guide

Army Clerk Agniveer eligibility is stricter on marks than most Agniveer categories. To apply for Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper Technical, you need a Class 12 pass with a set aggregate and subject-wise minimum, an age within a fixed date-of-birth window, regional physical standards, and you must be unmarried. The Indian Army sets these rules in the notifications issued by each Army Recruiting Office (ARO).

This page uses the notification for recruiting year 2027, under which registration opened on 13 February 2026. It explains each condition, shows how to check your own marks and date of birth, lists the bonus mark rules and documents, and flags the mistakes that lead to rejection at the rally.

How to check your marks

Work it out from your Class 12 mark sheet before you apply. Here is an example for a Commerce student:

Subject

Marks (out of 100)

Meets 50%?

English

58

Yes, and meets the English condition

Accountancy

66

Yes, and meets the accounts condition

Business Studies

62

Yes

Economics

55

Hindi

Aggregate

305 out of 500 = 61%

This student is eligible. If English had been 48, the student would fail the condition even with a 61% aggregate. For boards that award grades, check how your board converts grades into percentages and carry that conversion document to the rally.

Result awaited

Candidates who have appeared for Class 12 and are awaiting results can apply, as long as they meet all other conditions. They are selected only if they produce the original mark sheet during Phase II, the recruitment rally.

Physical Standards

Minimum height and chest vary by region. The Southern Plains notification, covering Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, sets the following:

Category

Minimum height

Minimum chest

Agniveer Clerk/SKT

162 cm

77 cm with 5 cm expansion

Agniveer Technical

165 cm

77 cm with 5 cm expansion

Agniveer GD and Tradesmen

Check the notification of your own ARO for your region's figures. Weight must be proportionate to height under a BMI-based chart, with a higher maximum for candidates over 20 years. Underweight or overweight candidates continue through the rally and are screened again by the medical team.

Relaxations in physical standards

  • Outstanding sportsmen: 2 cm in height, 3 cm in chest and 5 kg in weight, for those who represented the country, state, district, university, school or board at the levels listed in the notification.

  • Tribals of recognised tribal areas: Special standards of 162 cm height and 77 cm chest, with weight proportionate to height.

A relaxation claimed with a fake or unauthorised certificate leads to cancellation of candidature.

Marital Status and Other Conditions

  • Unmarried status: Only unmarried candidates can enrol. Agniveers who marry during the four years are released, and only unmarried Agniveers can be re-enrolled in the regular cadre.

  • Domicile: You apply under the ARO that covers your district, and you need a domicile or permanent residence certificate.

  • Two category options: You may apply for two Agniveer categories, with separate applications and exams. You attend one rally, for the category with the higher physical and medical standard.

  • Tattoos: Permanent tattoos of religious sentiment are allowed only on the inner forearm and the back of the hand. Candidates from tribal communities can have customary tattoos with the certificates listed in the notification.

  • Typing centres: Clerk/SKT applicants must choose exam centres with typing test facilities.

Agniveer Technical

Agniveer Tradesmen

Class 10 or Class 8 pass with 33% in five basic subjects

17.5 to 22 years

Clerk/SKT has the highest marks requirement, but it is the only Class 12 category open to Arts and Commerce students. If you also qualify for General Duty, read the Indian Army Agniveer page to compare all categories before choosing your two options.

Eligibility Checks Before You Apply

  1. Calculate your aggregate: Use all subjects on your Class 12 mark sheet and confirm 60% or more.

  2. Check each subject: Every subject must be at 50% or more, including English and Maths, Accounts or Book Keeping.

  3. Match your date of birth: Compare your Class 10 certificate with the 01 July 2005 to 01 July 2009 window.

  4. Measure your height accurately: The form asks for height to the millimetre, and a wrong entry can cancel your candidature at the rally.

  5. Line up certificates early: Domicile, character and unmarried certificates must be recent, some within the last six months.

Who Is Not Eligible

  • Below the marks bar: Under 60% aggregate, under 50% in any subject, or under 50% in English or Maths, Accounts or Book Keeping.

  • Outside the age window: Born before 01 July 2005 or after 01 July 2009.

  • Married candidates: Marriage at enrolment or during service ends eligibility.

  • Former service members: Candidates discharged from the Indian Armed Forces for any reason cannot appear.

  • Data mismatches: Name, parents' names or date of birth that differ from the Class 10 certificate, or wrong height entered in the form.

  • Fake documents: Leads to cancellation at any stage, even after enrolment.

Documents to Keep Ready

At the rally you need originals and two attested photocopies of each document, including the admit card, 20 recent passport-size colour photographs, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and certificates, domicile, caste and religion certificates, police and school character certificates, an unmarried certificate, Aadhaar and PAN, and any NCC, sports or relationship certificate you claim. An affidavit on Rs. 10 non-judicial stamp paper is mandatory to enter the rally.

Plan Your Preparation Around the Dates

Eligibility is fixed on paper, but selection depends on the CEE score. If the next cycle follows the recent pattern, registration would open around February 2027 and the exam would follow around June, which is a tentative expectation, not an announced schedule. That gives you several months to build English, maths and typing speed. A diagnostic test taken on Testkart now shows how far you are from a competitive score, and repeating it every few weeks tells you whether your plan is working.

If you also meet the Class 10 criteria for General Duty, compare with Army GD Agniveer.
