BSF Constable Tradesman Cut Off: How It Works

The BSF Constable Tradesman cut off is the minimum score needed to move ahead after the written test. No verified cut-off marks for the current cycle were available in the sources we checked, and the written test has not yet been reported as held. This page explains how the cut-off works and how to set a safe target.

Official results and any marks lists appear only on rectt.bsf.gov.in. Treat any figure on other sites as unofficial until it matches that portal.

What the cut-off means

In this recruitment there are two kinds of thresholds. A qualifying mark is the minimum a candidate must score in the written test. A merit cut-off is the score at which the last selected candidate in a category and trade is placed, and it depends on how many candidates scored higher.

What has been published

Only the shortlist for the written test has been reported so far, with about 1,76,361 male and 4,782 female candidates. This is a count of candidates, not a cut-off mark. We have not listed past-year cut-off marks because we could not verify them against an official source. Once BSF releases the result, this page will need an update with the labelled year and category-wise figures.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: A harder paper lowers the score needed to qualify.

  • Vacancies by trade: Trades with more posts, such as Cook, can have a different cut-off from small trades.

  • Number of candidates: With a large shortlist for a limited number of posts, merit is competitive.

  • Category and gender: Reservation and separate male and female vacancies create separate lists.

  • Negative marking: Wrong answers lower scores across the pool.

How to set your target

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

  • Aim high in every section: With four equal sections of 25 marks, try to score well in each rather than rely on one.

  • Track accuracy: Because wrong answers cost marks, build accuracy before speed.

  • Use mocks as a guide: Check your average across the last five full tests and push it steadily upward.
