BSSC Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Marks and How to Set Your Target

There is no official BSSC cut-off for the 2025-26 cycle yet, because the preliminary exams for the Second Inter Level exam (Advt. No. 02/23(A)) and the Fourth Graduate Level exam (Advt. No. 05/2025) had not been held in the latest coverage we checked. What exists today is the minimum qualifying marks for each category. This page explains how BSSC cut-offs work, what the qualifying marks are, and how to set a realistic target without relying on guesses.

What BSSC Cut-off Means

Three different numbers are often mixed up under the word cut-off.

  • Minimum qualifying marks: A fixed percentage by category that you must score to be considered at all.

  • Prelims cut-off: The score of the last shortlisted candidate in each category. Coverage reports that five times the category-wise vacancies are shortlisted for Mains in the Inter Level exam.

  • Final cut-off: The merit score of the last selected candidate after the Mains stage and document verification.

Any page that shows an expected cut-off for this cycle is an estimate. We do not list one, because no figure has been published by the commission.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Coverage of the notification reports these minimums. They are the floor, not the selection cut-off.

What About Previous Cut-offs

We do not publish earlier BSSC cut-off figures here. Older cycles had a different vacancy count, a different pattern in some stages and different fees, and third-party websites report them inconsistently. Check the result notices on the official notice board for any earlier cut-off you want to use: https://bssc.bihar.gov.in/NoticeBoard.htm

What Affects the Cut-off

  • Difficulty of the paper: A harder paper lowers the scores of the shortlisted group.

  • Number of vacancies: More posts mean a larger shortlist and a lower cut-off, which matters with more than 26,000 reported Inter Level posts.

  • Number of applicants: A larger pool raises competition in each category.

  • Normalisation: If the exam runs in several shifts, scores may be normalised.

How to Set Your Target Score

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat any earlier figure as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above the qualifying marks rather than a bare pass.

  1. Start from your category minimum: It is your safe floor.

  2. Add a margin: A margin of 100 or more marks above the minimum on a 600-mark paper is a sensible first target.

  3. Track mock scores: Practise full 150-question papers on Testkart and look at the average of your last five scores, not one best score.

  4. Watch accuracy: With 1 mark cut for each wrong answer, accuracy above 85 per cent often helps more than extra attempts.
