CA Final Syllabus 2026: Paper-Wise Topics Guide
The CA Final syllabus covers six papers in two groups under ICAI's New Scheme of Education and Training. Group 1 is built around financial reporting, financial management and audit. Group 2 covers direct tax, indirect tax and an integrated case-study paper. This guide lists the modules paper by paper so you can plan your study order.
ICAI does not publish one flat topic list for Final. It issues the syllabus through its paper-wise study material and modules. The Paper 1 chapter list below is taken from the ICAI study material page for May 2026 and onwards. For the other papers, the topic lists are compiled from the reported ICAI syllabus, so treat them as a working checklist and match them against the ICAI study material for your attempt.

Key Changes to Know
Six papers: The new scheme has six Final papers. Corporate and economic laws and strategic cost and performance management are now handled through the Self-Paced Online Modules rather than as Final papers.
Twice a year: Final is held in May and November from May 2026, so syllabus planning is built around two attempts a year.
Income-tax Act, 2025: ICAI has said Paper 4 will test the new Act only from the May 2027 examination onwards. Until then, follow the law that ICAI specifies for your attempt in its study material and Revision Test Papers.
Paper 6 is integrated: It is an open-book case-study paper that tests several subjects together, so it has no chapter list of its own.
Older pages may still show the earlier eight-paper structure, so follow the ICAI study material for the scheme you are under.
Group 1 Syllabus
Paper 1: Financial Reporting
Paper 1 is the Ind AS paper. ICAI organises it into five modules.
Module | Chapters |
|---|---|
Module 1 | Introduction to Ind AS; Conceptual Framework; Ind AS on presentation (Ind AS 1, 34, 7); Ind AS on measurement and accounting policies (Ind AS 8, 10, 113) |
Module 2 | Ind AS on assets (Ind AS 2, 16, 23, 36, 38, 40, 105, 116) |
Module 3 | Ind AS on liabilities (Ind AS 19, 37); items affecting financial statements (Ind AS 12, 21); disclosures (Ind AS 24, 33, 108) |

Module 5 | Ind AS 103 Business Combinations; consolidated and separate financial statements; Ind AS 101 First-time Adoption; analysis of financial statements; professional and ethical duty of a CA; accounting and technology |

Self-Paced Online Modules and the Syllabus

How to Cover the CA Final Syllabus
Phase 1, first pass: Finish the ICAI modules for Papers 1 to 5 in the order that suits your group, with practice questions at the end of each chapter.
Phase 2, consolidate: Make short notes and an amendments sheet for the tax papers, and revisit weak chapters.
Phase 3, topic-wise practice: Attempt chapter-wise and module-wise tests with a time limit, and log every mistake.
Phase 4, Paper 6 and integration: Practise case studies that mix subjects, in the open-book, four-hour format.
Phase 5, full papers: Write full-length papers by hand, analyse them the same day and revise the error log.
For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt CA Final online tests on Testkart and use the paper-wise analysis to decide which modules to revisit.
