Central Bank Apprentice 2026: Eligibility
Central Bank of India Apprentice eligibility should be read with the bank's FY 2026-27 notification. Apprenticeship is a time-bound training engagement, so its rules should not be borrowed from clerk or probationary-officer recruitment. This page separates verified examination requirements from a suggested preparation method. The study examples, revision intervals and mock schedules below are recommendations, not additional conditions imposed by the bank.
The original FY 2026-27 application dates have passed. This guide explains that verified notification; it does not advertise an open application window.
Check eligibility as a set of conditions rather than a single age or degree requirement. The date on which age is assessed can differ from the qualification deadline. Category relaxation, apprenticeship-portal registration, previous training and the specified local language can all affect an application. This page gives the verified FY 2026-27 reference and a practical way to audit your records.
Table of Contents

Age limit: use the reference date
For this notification, the ordinary age range is 20 to 28 years on 31 May 2026. Do not calculate only your age today. Read the date-of-birth window in the official table, including whether both end dates are included, and compare it with the date shown on your school record. If you need relaxation, establish the category and supporting evidence before assuming a higher upper age is available.
Category | Notified upper-age relaxation/concession |
|---|---|
SC/ST | 5 years |
OBC non-creamy layer | 3 years |
PwBD UR/EWS | 10 years |
PwBD OBC | 13 years |
PwBD SC/ST | 15 years |
Widows/divorced/legally separated women who have not remarried | Concession up to 35 years General/EWS,38 OBC,40 SC/ST, subject to the notification |
The notification specifies a birth window from 31 May 1998 to 31 May 2006, both inclusive, for the ordinary band. Candidates relying on OBC benefits must satisfy the relevant central-list and non-creamy-layer conditions; membership of a similarly named state category alone does not establish the claimed benefit. Reservation and relaxation should be read with the state-wise seat table.
EWS reservation should not automatically be treated as an age concession. The ordinary upper age applies to General and EWS candidates unless another specific permissible relaxation applies. A category claim and a relaxation claim must each be supported by the rules and documents required for that recruitment.
Graduation and the result date
Graduation completed from 1 January 2022 through 31 May 2026, subject to the notification’s eligibility reference date. Read this exactly as a date-based requirement. A final-semester examination date, provisional certificate issue date and convocation date can be different. The relevant result declaration should be supported by the university record. A result expected after the deadline is not a completed qualification before the deadline.
The notification accepts a degree in any discipline subject to the stated recognition requirements. Do not assume that a diploma is interchangeable with a degree or that an unrecognised institution qualifies because its course title sounds similar. If you rely on an equivalent qualification, keep documentary recognition rather than an informal assertion of equivalence.
Where your university reports CGPA, retain its conversion rule and the complete marksheets. This page does not invent a minimum percentage or rounding rule that is absent from the verified apprenticeship requirement. Enter the result in the manner required by the application form and official instructions. An unexplained discrepancy between a form and transcript can delay verification even where the underlying degree is valid.
Apprenticeship registration and previous engagement
The Central Bank FY 2026-27 notification identifies candidates registered on NATS as eligible to apply. Portal registration and the bank's application are related steps, but they are not proof that every eligibility condition has been approved. Keep the enrolment details and follow the official route rather than an unrelated recruitment link.
Read the clauses on earlier apprenticeship, current apprenticeship, termination and post-qualification work experience before applying. These programmes are governed by training conditions that differ from a regular bank job. A candidate who is academically eligible may still be excluded by a prior-engagement condition. This page does not make a case-by-case eligibility ruling without the relevant records and exact clause.
Make a short timeline of degree result, employment, training and apprenticeship dates. Include whether an earlier programme was completed or terminated and why. If the rule refers to experience after qualification, the timing matters as much as the total duration. Where your situation falls near a boundary, ask the official helpdesk with that timeline instead of relying on another candidate's experience.
Local-language requirement
The notification requires proficiency in the specified local language of the state applied for. Reading, writing, speaking and understanding may all matter. Candidates producing the prescribed Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet showing that they studied the relevant language may be exempt from a separate language test under the notification. That exemption should be established by the exact document and language combination.
Do not confuse your mother tongue, current address and the language stated for a training seat. A person can speak a language at home but lack the required school evidence for exemption. Conversely, having studied a language does not remove the need to understand instructions and communicate effectively during training. Prepare the documentary and practical aspects separately.
For practical preparation, read a short banking or public-service passage aloud, summarise it and practise simple written responses. These are suggested exercises, not an official question format. Use the bank's own instructions if a language-test call letter specifies the assessment. Do not buy a course that promises a language-test exemption or guaranteed qualification.
Documents and a practical verification file
Document group | What to check | Common avoidable problem |
|---|---|---|
Identity and date of birth | The name and date agree across the application and supporting records. | A different spelling or an unclear image is discovered only at verification. |
Graduation | All required marksheets, result date and degree/provisional certificate are available. | The candidate uses the convocation date instead of the qualifying-result date. |
Reservation | The correct competent-authority certificate and applicable format are available. | A certificate exists but does not establish the claimed category for this recruitment. |
Language | School marksheets show the specified language if an exemption is claimed. | Conversational fluency is mistaken for documentary exemption. |
Registration and payment | The apprenticeship enrolment details, application print and receipt can be retrieved. | Payment was initiated but a successful transaction or final application cannot be proved. |
Make a checklist with three columns: ready, correction required and clarification required. Keep the originals safely and prepare legible copies in the order requested in the call letter. Do not assume that uploading a document means its eligibility has already been accepted. Scrutiny can happen later, and provisional selection remains conditional on verification.
Where an official rule is unclear for your circumstances, quote the exact clause when contacting the bank or the named examination agency. Explain the relevant dates and qualification clearly. Do not send account passwords, one-time passwords or unnecessary identity documents to an informal social-media contact. Use the contact route identified in the official recruitment material.
Who should pause before applying?
Result not declared: A degree expected after the qualification deadline does not satisfy a completed-result requirement.
Age outside the band: Apply a relaxation only where the notification permits it and you hold the evidence.
Unclear qualification recognition: Confirm recognition or equivalence before treating the degree as accepted.
Conflicting engagement history: Check prior apprenticeship and post-qualification experience against the exact conditions.
Language mismatch: Do not choose a state assuming that a different local language will automatically be accepted.
Incorrect category claim: A certificate from an unsuitable authority or an inapplicable category is not a safe substitute.
Eligibility is checked beyond the application stage
An accepted form, fee receipt, call letter or provisional result does not by itself establish final eligibility. The bank can verify information later and reject candidature where the conditions are not met. Keep your records accessible and read every verification notice. If an error is discovered, use an officially provided correction or clarification route; do not submit a misleading replacement document.
Study resources can help preparation; they cannot change age, qualification, language or documentary rules. Preserve a copy of the notification used for your application so that you can identify the relevant rule if a later notice refers back to it.
