Delhi Police Head Constable Cut Off 2026: Category-wise Marks

The Delhi Police Head Constable cut off is the minimum normalised score a candidate needed in the computer-based examination to be shortlisted for the next stage. In the latest cycle for Head Constable (Ministerial), the unreserved cut-off was 82.68883 marks out of 100 for male open candidates and 75.97928 for female open candidates, which is a demanding score for a 100-mark paper.

This page explains how the cut-off works, lists the category-wise marks released with the result on 5 June 2026, and shows how to turn these numbers into a realistic target for the next cycle. All figures are for Head Constable (Ministerial), not the AWO/TPO post, which has its own result and cut-off.

Qualifying Marks vs Merit Cut Off

Two different numbers are often mixed up. The minimum qualifying marks are fixed in the notification: 40 percent for UR and EWS candidates and 35 percent for SC, ST and OBC candidates. Scoring these only makes you eligible to be considered.

The cut-off is what the competition decides. SSC shortlists candidates in order of merit, category by category, until the required number is reached. In this recruitment the cut-offs were far above the qualifying percentages, so a pass score alone had no value.

In all, 2,342 female open candidates were shortlisted. The female UR cut-off is about 6.7 marks below the male UR cut-off, because the number of posts and the number of applicants differ for the two lists. Always compare yourself with the list that applies to you.

Together, the three lists make up the 7,217 candidates called for the next stage, which is 4,288 male open, 587 male ex-servicemen and 2,342 female open.

Earlier Cut Off for Comparison

In the 2022 recruitment, the final merit cut-off for the UR category was reported as 96 for male and 90 for female candidates, and 811 candidates were finally selected. That figure comes from the final result after the typing test marks were added, so it is not directly comparable with the 2025 shortlisting cut-off, which is a computer-based exam score out of 100.

The useful lesson from both cycles is the same: shortlisting needs a score in the 80s, and the final merit list is decided after the typing stage, so a strong typing score can change your final rank.

Factors That Affect the Cut Off

  • Number of vacancies: With 509 posts announced and 7,217 candidates shortlisted, the cut-off reflects the number needed for the later stages.

  • Difficulty of the paper: An easy paper pushes the cut-off up, because many candidates score high.

  • Number of applicants: More candidates mean tougher competition at every category level.

  • Normalisation: The paper ran over several days and shifts, so raw marks were converted to normalised marks, which is why the cut-offs are decimals.

  • Category and gender lists: Male open, male ex-servicemen and female open lists have separate cut-offs.

How to Use the Cut Off for Your Preparation

Treat the 2025 cycle as a benchmark and aim above it, not on it. A target of 85 or more in mock tests gives you a margin for a harder paper or a larger crowd.

  1. Identify your list (male open, ex-servicemen or female open) and your category, then note its cut-off.

  2. Divide the target across five sections: General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, General Intelligence, English and Computer Fundamentals.

  3. Protect the sections where marks are easiest, such as English and Computer Fundamentals.

  4. Take full-length timed tests and track your average, not your best score.

  5. Keep typing practice running, because the final merit depends on it.
