The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) conducts it to fill PGT posts mainly under the Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of NCT of Delhi, and in some subjects under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Selected PGTs teach their subject to Classes 11 and 12.

DSSSB PGT Notification
DSSSB does not follow a fixed yearly calendar for PGT recruitment. It issues an advertisement when the DoE or NDMC sends a requisition, and each subject gets its own post code. In most subjects there are separate post codes for male and female candidates, because the vacancies belong to boys' and girls' schools. You apply for a specific post code, not for "PGT" in general.
DSSSB PGT covers Hindi, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Commerce, History, Geography, Political Science and Sociology under post codes 824/24 to 834/24. Online applications ran from 16 January to 14 February 2025, and 14 February 2025 was the reference date for eligibility. Subject-wise CBTs were held in phases during 2026.
DSSSB PGT covers English, Sanskrit, Engineering Graphics, Agriculture and Horticulture under post codes 03/25 to 10/25. Applications were open from 8 July to 7 August 2025. Some websites still show "432 vacancies" as a single headline for both cycles, or quote other advertisement numbers. They are two separate advertisements with separate post codes, so check which one your subject belongs to.
Is a New DSSSB PGT Notification Coming?
Reports based on Delhi government vacancy data suggest that a fresh PGT (Lecturer) advertisement may follow. As of 12 October 2026, DSSSB has not released one. Any vacancy figure you see for a "2026 PGT notification" before the official advertisement is an estimate, not a notified number.

DSSSB PGT Eligibility Criteria
PGT eligibility is set post by post in the recruitment rules, so read the qualification column for your exact post code. The points below apply to most PGT posts. For a detailed breakdown.
Educational Qualification
Master's degree: A postgraduate degree in the relevant subject from a recognised university with at least 50% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.
Teacher training: B.Ed. from a recognised university, or a B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc.B.Ed. or three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution.
Subject-specific rules: PGT Biology accepts master's degrees such as Botany, Zoology, Life Science or Microbiology, provided Botany and Zoology were studied at graduation. PGT Engineering Graphics asks for an engineering degree in Civil or Mechanical, or Architecture, along with B.Ed.
No CTET requirement: CTET covers Classes 1 to 8, so it is not a qualification for PGT posts. Some websites list it by mistake.
Age Limit
Under Advertisement 10/2024, the upper age limit is 30 years, calculated as on the closing date of 14 February 2025. Older pages may still show 36 years, so always follow the age column of your own advertisement. Relaxation applies as follows:
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
OBC (Delhi) | 3 years |
SC / ST | 5 years |
PwBD (UR / EWS) | 10 years |
PwBD (OBC) | 13 years |
PwBD (SC / ST) | 15 years |
Government servants | Up to 5 years, as per rules |
Ex-servicemen | As per government rules |
OBC relaxation and reservation apply only to candidates with an OBC certificate issued in Delhi. OBC candidates from other states apply as UR.
Application Fee and How to Apply
Category | Application fee |
|---|---|
UR / OBC / EWS (male) | Rs. 100 |
Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen | Nil |
The fee is paid online through SBI ePay and is not refundable. Applications go only through the DSSSB OARS portal.
Register once: Create an OARS account with a working email and mobile number. The same login is used for every DSSSB advertisement.
Pick the post code: Choose the correct advertisement and the post code for your subject and gender.
Fill in details: Enter your master's, B.Ed. and category details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
Upload documents: Add a recent photograph and signature in the format the notification asks for.
Pay and submit: Pay the fee if it applies, check the preview and save a copy.
Applications are commonly rejected for a master's degree in a subject the post does not accept, less than 50% marks, a non-Delhi OBC claim, or a B.Ed. completed after the closing date.
DSSSB PGT Exam Pattern
DSSSB PGT is a one-tier objective exam with two sections. Section A is common to all teaching posts, and Section B tests your subject along with teaching methodology.
Section | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
A | General Awareness | 20 | 20 |
A | General Intelligence and Reasoning | 20 | 20 |
A | Arithmetical and Numerical Ability | 20 | 20 |
A | Hindi Language and Comprehension | 20 | 20 |
A | English Language and Comprehension | 20 | 20 |
B | Subject concerned (including teaching methodology) | 200 | 200 |
Total | 300 | 300 |
Each question carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. The exam lasts 3 hours. Questions are in Hindi and English, except in language sections and language subject papers.
What this means for you:
Two-thirds of the marks are in your subject: Section B decides 200 of 300 marks, so subject depth matters more here than in TGT.
The pace is fast: 300 questions in 180 minutes leaves about 36 seconds per question. Aim to finish Section A in under 50 minutes.
Guessing has a cost: Four wrong answers wipe out one correct answer. Attempt a doubtful question only when you can rule out two options.
DSSSB PGT Syllabus Summary
DSSSB publishes an indicative syllabus for Section A and uploads post-wise Section B syllabi on its website. Section B is broadly at postgraduate level, and many questions also link to the Class 11 and 12 curriculum that PGTs teach.
Subject | Section | Important topics |
|---|---|---|
General Awareness | A | Current affairs, polity, history, geography, economy, everyday science, Delhi-related facts |
Reasoning | A | Analogy, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction, syllogism, non-verbal reasoning |
Numerical Ability | A | Percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, interest, time and work, data interpretation |
Hindi and English | A | Grammar, vocabulary, idioms, error spotting, comprehension |
Subject concerned | B | Postgraduate-level content of your subject plus teaching methodology |
Selection Process
Computer-based test: Candidates must reach the minimum qualifying marks for their category. A merit list is then prepared post-wise on total marks.
E-dossier and document verification: Shortlisted candidates upload documents online and later produce originals for checks on age, qualification and category.
Nomination: DSSSB sends the final list to the DoE or NDMC, which issues offers of appointment after medical and character verification.
There is no interview or skill test for PGT posts. When candidates tie on marks, DSSSB applies the tie-breaking order given in the advertisement.

How to Prepare for DSSSB PGT
The exam is decided mainly by Section B, but Section A is where many candidates lose easy marks. Plan your weeks around both.
Build your subject unit by unit: Revise your master's syllabus, then solve subject MCQs after each unit. Keep NCERT Class 11 and 12 books close, since many questions test school concepts at a deeper level.
Cover teaching methodology: Learning theories, assessment and subject-specific teaching methods appear in Section B. A short revision list is enough if you start early.
Keep Section A in daily practice: 30 to 40 minutes of arithmetic, reasoning and grammar keeps your speed up without taking time from the subject.
Read for Delhi: General Awareness often includes questions on Delhi's administration, landmarks and schemes along with national current affairs.
Solve previous papers: They show how deep Section B goes in your subject, which varies a lot between subjects.
Role of Mock Tests
A 3-hour, 300-question paper tests stamina as much as knowledge. Start full-length mocks six to eight weeks before your exam and review each one for wrong answers, slow questions and questions you skipped but could have solved. For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt DSSSB PGT mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to see whether your subject or Section A needs more time. Pair them with DSSSB PGT previous year papers to judge the real difficulty of your subject paper.
Qualifying Marks and Cut-off
DSSSB sets minimum qualifying marks in its advertisements. Reaching them makes you eligible for the merit list, but the actual cut-off is usually higher.
Category | Minimum qualifying marks |
|---|---|
UR / EWS | 40% |
OBC (Delhi) | 35% |
SC / ST / PwBD | 30% |
Cut-offs are released post-wise, so PGT Economics (Male) and PGT Economics (Female) can close at very different marks. They change with vacancies, difficulty and the number of candidates. Treat any previous cut-off as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above it. Regular Testkart DSSSB PGT tests can help you check whether your scores are moving towards that target.
