EMRS JSA Cut Off: Tier I 2025 and Previous Year Marks

The EMRS JSA cut-off is the minimum score a candidate needs at each stage of the EMRS Staff Selection Exam (ESSE) for the Junior Secretariat Assistant post. In ESSE 2025, NESTS released a category-wise Tier I cut-off on 31 January 2026 to shortlist candidates for Tier II. The Tier II result followed on 5 September 2026, and the skill test is still to come.

Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat the figures below as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

The fractional values reflect the one-third negative marking. NESTS has not yet published a Tier II or final cut-off for JSA.

ESSE 2023 JSA Cut-off

In ESSE 2023, JSA had a single written exam. NESTS published the marks of the last recommended candidate in each category.

The 2023 paper had a different structure and total, reported as 130 marks. Do not compare these numbers directly with the 2025 Tier I figures. If the 130-mark total is right, the last selected UR candidate in 2023 scored close to 78 percent, which shows how competitive final selection can be.

What Affects the Cut-off

Factor

How it affects the cut-off

Vacancies

228 JSA posts in 2025 were spread across categories. Fewer seats in a category push its cut-off up.

Number of applicants

JSA needs only Class 12, so competition is wide and cut-offs stay high.

Paper difficulty

A harder reasoning or quant section lowers the cut-off across all categories.

Shortlisting ratio

Tier I shortlists candidates in the ratio of 1:10 against notified vacancies, so the cut-off is set by rank, not a fixed pass mark.

How to Set Your Target Score

The targets below are indicative, built on the 2025 figures and the bulletin rules. They are not official cut-offs.
