EMRS Lab Attendant Eligibility: Qualification and Age
EMRS Lab Attendant eligibility depends mainly on your educational qualification and your age. The post is a Group C job in Eklavya Model Residential Schools, recruited by NESTS under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs through its Staff Selection Examination (ESSE 2025 cycle).
This page explains who can apply, how age is counted and what documents to keep ready. The qualification and age figures below come from secondary reports and are marked tentative, because the full notification could not be opened in text form during research. Read the official notification on the NESTS website before you rely on any figure.

Educational Qualification
Two routes are reported for the Lab Attendant post. You need to meet one of them.
Route 1: a Class 10 pass together with a certificate or diploma in laboratory technique from a recognised board or institute.
Route 2: a Class 12 pass in the Science stream from a recognised board or university.
Points to check
Recognised board: your board or institute should be recognised. If you are unsure, ask your school or institute for proof of recognition.
Subjects in Science stream: check whether the notification names specific subjects such as Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
Result deadline: confirm whether the qualification must be complete by the last date of application.
Percentage rules: the reports did not mention a minimum percentage. If the notification names one, follow it, including how CGPA is converted.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The upper age limit is reported as 30 years. Age is counted on a cut-off date fixed in the notification, so a date of birth just before or after that date can change your eligibility. Do not assume the date; read it in the notice.
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
SC and ST | As per Government of India rules; years to be confirmed in the notification |
OBC (non-creamy layer) | As per Government of India rules; years to be confirmed in the notification |
Persons with benchmark disabilities | As per Government of India rules; years to be confirmed in the notification |
Ex-servicemen | As per Government of India rules; years to be confirmed in the notification |
The relaxation years are left unfilled on purpose. They differ by category and by the rule applied, and a wrong figure could cost you an application. Keep your category certificate ready, because you may need to upload it.
Nationality and Other Conditions
Nationality: government posts normally require Indian citizenship or another status allowed by the notice. Check the exact wording.
Language: the test includes English and Hindi, so basic ability in both is needed to score well.
Medical and physical standards: a lab job involves standing, lifting and handling chemicals. Check whether the notice sets medical standards.
Reservation: vacancies are reported across UR, EWS, OBC, SC and ST categories, along with reservation for ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities. Apply under the category for which you hold a valid certificate in the required format.
Who May Not Be Eligible
Qualification from an unrecognised institute: a lab technique course from an unrecognised centre may not be accepted.
Over the age limit on the cut-off date: even a few days beyond the limit can lead to rejection, unless a relaxation applies.
Incomplete or mismatched documents: a name or date of birth that differs between documents can create problems at verification.
Result awaited: if the notice requires the result by the last date, an awaited result may not count.
Fee and Documents
The application fee could not be confirmed, so no amount is given here. Fee details, payment mode and any exemption are in the notification. Keep scanned copies of your photograph, signature, marksheets, certificates and category proof, in the size and format asked by the portal. For the dates and stages, see the EMRS Lab Attendant exam overview.
