International Mathematical Olympiad Cut-Off: Medal and Stage Marks

The International Mathematical Olympiad has no single pass mark. At the IMO, medal boundaries are set each year on a score out of 42. In India, qualifying marks for IOQM and RMO are set region by region. Cut-offs change with paper difficulty, so treat past figures as a benchmark only.

In 2026, India's six contestants all won medals, two gold and four silver, and the team ranked 7th. Over these five years, the gold boundary ranged from 29 to 35. Two fully solved problems, worth 14 marks, did not reach bronze in any of these years, so partial marks on a third problem matter.

RMO Cut-Offs by Region (Out of 102)

There is no national RMO cut-off. Each region qualifies a fixed number of students, so the marks needed depend on how strong the region is.

AG is the girls' quota. In 2025, Category A cut-offs across all regions ran from 1 mark to 35 marks, and many regions fell sharply from 2024. The full chart is on the official HBCSE results page.

IOQM Cut-Off

To qualify for RMO, a student needs at least 10 out of 100 marks and a rank within the regional quota. The IOQM 2026 result and regional cut-offs had not been published when this page was written.

For official numbers, use the HBCSE RMO 2025 results page and the IMO results page.
