Law School Admission Test India

Entrance exam for law colleges in India

LSAT India, the Law School Admission Test India, was a law entrance exam owned by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) of the USA and delivered in India by Pearson VUE. Private law schools used its scores to admit students to 5-year integrated LLB, 3-year LLB and LLM programmes. As of 21 October 2026, LSAT India is not being conducted. LSAC stopped offering it after the 2024 sessions.

This page gives the verified status, the format of the last cycle, what happens to existing scores and the exams law aspirants now use instead. Details of the last format come from reports of the 2024 cycle, and figures that could not be checked against a live official page are marked tentative. Always confirm with the college you are applying to.

Is LSAT India Conducted in 2026?

No. LSAC announced that it will no longer offer the LSAT India entrance exam. Reports describe the decision as a business decision, and the notice was on the LSAT India website by 3 December 2024. The accompanying FAQ said that Pearson VUE had no other law admission test in India as of then.

In practice this means there is no 2025 or 2026 LSAT India registration, admit card or result, and none is expected for 2027. Several third-party pages still show LSAT India 2026 dates, fees or application links. Treat those as outdated and do not pay any fee to a site claiming to register you.

Last LSAT India Exam Pattern

The last cycle was an online, remotely proctored test in English made up of multiple-choice questions. Reports describe four timed sections of 35 minutes each, about 92 questions in total, and no negative marking. Sources differ slightly on question counts and some mention an unscored experimental section, so treat the table as indicative.

Eligibility in Brief

LSAC did not set an age limit or a minimum-marks rule for LSAT India as far as reports show. Eligibility came from the law programme you were applying to: Class 12 for 5-year integrated LLB, graduation for 3-year LLB, and a law degree for LLM. Because no one can register now, the practical question is whether you meet a college's admission criteria through another route. The LSAT India eligibility page explains this.

Syllabus in Brief

Section

What it tested

Analytical Reasoning

Ordering, grouping and arrangement puzzles solved from a set of rules

Logical Reasoning

Short arguments: assumptions, inferences, strengthening and weakening, flaws

Reading Comprehension

Long passages: main idea, inference, author's purpose and tone

LSAC described the skills rather than a topic list, so the topics are a working checklist. The LSAT India syllabus page expands each area.

Scores, Cut-Off and Validity

LSAT India had no pass mark and no single national cut-off. Each participating college set its own score or percentile expectation, and these were not published in one official list. Read the LSAT India cut-off page for how scores were used and how to check an old score.

If You Already Have an LSAT India Score

  1. Find your scorecard. The archived FAQ reportedly said LSAC and Pearson VUE do not keep copies for candidates, so use the file you downloaded when results were released.

  2. Check the date. Scores were reported as valid for five years for tests taken from 2019. A January 2024 score would fall in that window on paper.

  3. Ask the college. Email the admissions office and ask whether it still accepts LSAT India scores for the current intake. Get the answer in writing.

  4. Keep a backup. Prepare for another accepted exam in case the college does not accept an older score.

How to Prepare for Law Entrance Exams Now

The skills LSAT India tested are still useful: reading long passages quickly, spotting the structure of an argument and working through logic puzzles under time pressure. Most law entrance exams reward the same habits, even when the question style differs.

  • Read daily: Spend 30 to 40 minutes on editorials or long-form articles and summarise each in two lines.

  • Practise reasoning in sets: Solve timed sets of arguments and puzzles, then review every wrong answer.

  • Match your target exam: Take the official pattern of the exam you will actually sit and practise in that format.

For timed practice, you can attempt law entrance mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan revision. When educators publish LSAT India style reasoning practice, you can find LSAT India study notes and LSAT India courses from the same hub.
