LSAT India Eligibility: Who Could Apply and What Applies Now

LSAT India eligibility was set less by the exam than by the law programme you wanted to join. The Law School Admission Test India, owned by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) and delivered by Pearson VUE, did not carry a published age limit or a minimum-marks rule, as far as reports of the last cycle show. The participating law school decided who qualified for admission.

There is also a bigger point to settle first. As of 21 October 2026, LSAT India is discontinued, so no one is eligible to register for it, whatever their qualification. This page explains the eligibility conditions of the last cycle (2024) and what to check now if you hold a score or are choosing another route into a law programme.

Can Anyone Apply for LSAT India Now?

No. LSAC announced that it will no longer offer the LSAT India entrance exam, and no test has been held since the 2024 sessions. There is no 2026 notification, application form or admit card. Websites that still list an LSAT India 2026 registration link are outdated, and you should not pay money to them.

If you are a Class 12 student or a graduate planning a law degree, your eligibility question is now about the programme and the entrance route a college accepts, not about LSAT India itself.

Educational Qualification by Programme

5-year integrated LLB

Candidates needed to have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination, or to be appearing in it. Colleges applied their own minimum-marks rule for admission, and the rule could differ by category. Read the prospectus of each college rather than relying on a general figure.

3-year LLB

Candidates needed a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognised university, or to be in the final year. Percentage requirements again came from the college.

LLM

Candidates needed a law degree such as LLB, or to be in the final year or semester. Some colleges added their own conditions on marks or work experience.

Degrees are expected to be from recognised institutions, and a candidate who was only appearing had to meet the college's result deadline. Check that date in the admission notice.

Age Limit

LSAC did not publish an upper age limit for LSAT India in the reports reviewed. That does not guarantee that no limit applies to admission. Colleges and regulators can set their own rules, so check the age rules for your programme in its official admission notice.

Other Conditions

  • Remote proctoring: The 2024 sessions were reported as online and remotely proctored. Candidates generally needed a computer with a webcam, a microphone and a stable internet connection.

  • English language: The test was reported to be in English, so reading comfort in English mattered.

  • Identity proof: A valid photo ID was normally needed for proctored exams. The exact document rules are not verified here.

  • College-specific rules: Each participating college could add interviews, essays or document checks after the score.

Fee in the Last Cycle

The registration fee was reported as Rs. 3,999 per session (January or May) in the 2024 cycle. Some reports mention a combined fee for both sessions, but the figures differ between sources, so the combined amount is not verified. Since the exam is discontinued, no fee is payable now.

If You Hold an LSAT India Score

Your eligibility for admission depends on whether the college still accepts the score. The archived FAQ was reported to say that LSAT India scores from 2019 onwards were valid for five years, and that candidates should ask each college whether it accepts older scores. LSAC and Pearson VUE were reported not to issue copies of old scorecards, so keep the file you downloaded.

  1. Locate your scorecard and note the test date.

  2. Write to the admissions office and ask if the score is accepted for the intake you want.

  3. Ask about alternatives the college offers if the score is not accepted.

You can read the LSAT India cut-off and score validity page for more on how scores were used.

What to Check for Your Target Law Programme

Use the same checklist for any law admission route, such as CLAT or a college test.

  • Qualification and result deadline: Whether appearing candidates are allowed and by when the result must be ready.

  • Minimum marks by category: The exact percentage rule in the official notice.

  • Age rules: Any limit set by the university or regulator.

  • Accepted exams: Which scores the college will take this year.

For CLAT 2027, the Consortium of NLUs published a press release dated 22 July 2026 with the exam date (6 December 2026) and application window (3 August to 31 October 2026), and said further details would be notified. Read the official notices on the Consortium of NLUs website for eligibility.
