MPPSC AE Cut Off: Previous Marks and How to Set a Target

The MPPSC AE cut-off is the minimum score needed to move from the written exam to the interview and, finally, to the merit list. It is released by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission with the result and differs by branch and category.

We have not listed category-wise cut-off numbers on this page because no official figures could be verified for the latest State Engineering Service cycle (written exam reported on 22 March 2026). Rather than show unverified numbers, this page explains how the cut-off works and how to set your own target. Check the result notice on the MPPSC website for official marks.

What the cut-off means for MPPSC AE

Selection is through a written exam of 450 marks (reported) and a 50-mark interview. Cut-offs are therefore set on the written score, usually branch-wise and category-wise, because vacancies differ across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Agricultural posts. With only about 32 posts reported in the latest cycle, competition for each branch can be tight.

What affects the cut-off

  • Paper difficulty: a harder engineering paper pushes the cut-off down.

  • Vacancies by branch: branches with fewer posts, such as Mechanical, often see sharper competition.

  • Number of applicants: more candidates usually raise the score needed.

  • Reservation: category-wise rules under Madhya Pradesh policy create separate cut-offs.

How to set your target

Cut-offs change every cycle, so treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. A practical way to build that margin is below.

  1. Find the latest official marks: read the final result and marks list for your branch and category.

  2. Add a buffer: aim for a mock-test average that sits comfortably above that number.

  3. Split your target: decide marks for Part A (GK, 150) and Part B (branch, 300) separately.

  4. Track in mocks: measure accuracy and attempts, not only the total score.
