MPSC State Service Cut-off: Category-wise Prelims Marks
The MPSC State Service cut-off is the minimum score that a category needs to move ahead at each stage. The Maharashtra Public Service Commission announces it after the Prelims and again after the Mains, category by category, with separate lists for women and special groups.
This page gives the Prelims figures reported for the 2026 cycle, compares them with an earlier year, and shows how to set a realistic target. The official result notices, which carry the final figures, are on https://mpsc.gov.in.
What the Cut-off Means for the State Service
Prelims cut-off: Based on Paper I (200 marks) only. Paper II is qualifying and needs 33%, so a high Paper I score does not help if you miss that line.
Mains cut-off: Decided on the merit papers. It decides who is called for the Interview.
Final merit: Mains merit marks plus Interview marks decide the final rank, and posts are allotted category-wise.
Prelims Cut-off for the 2026 Cycle
The Prelims was held on 31 May 2026 and the result came on 22 June 2026. The figures below are Paper I scores reported by secondary sources from the result notice. Check the official result PDF for the complete list, which also covers sports, disability and orphan categories.
Category | General | Women |
|---|---|---|
Open | 98.00 | 92.00 |
SC | 94.00 | 91.00 |
ST | 86.50 | 79.00 |
EWS | 85.50 | 78.00 |
SBC | 93.50 | Not confirmed |
DT (A), NT (C), NT (D), OBC, SEBC | 98.00 | 92.00 |
NT (B) is reported at 98.00 for the general list, while the women figure is reported differently by different sources, so it is left out of the table. Treat all figures here as reported ones, and confirm your own category in the Commission's notice.
Cut-off Trend
Prelims cycle | Open (General) | Open (Women) |
|---|---|---|
2022 (held August 2022) | 106.5 | 96.5 |
2026 (held May 2026) | 98.00 | 92.00 |
The Open cut-off moved down by a few marks between these two cycles. Older figures from 2019 to 2021 are quoted on a different scale by various sources, so do not compare them directly with the recent numbers.
For the Mains, secondary sources report an Open general cut-off of 488.00 for the 2022 cycle. The Mains pattern has changed since then and will change again from 2027, so treat it only as a rough sense of the scale.
What Affects the Cut-off
Paper difficulty: A tougher Paper I brings the cut-off down.
Vacancies: More posts usually mean more candidates are shortlisted.
Number of candidates: A larger appearing pool raises competition in each category.
Category and reservation: Each category has its own list, and the women list is usually lower than the general list.
How to Set Your Target
Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Treat last year's figures as a benchmark only, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass. A safe Prelims target is to score at least 15 to 20 marks above the last Open cut-off in your mock tests, with Paper II comfortably above 66.
