NHM Rajasthan Staff Nurse Eligibility 2026: Qualification and Age
NHM Rajasthan Staff Nurse eligibility comes down to four checks: the right nursing qualification, valid nursing council registration, an age within the limit on the reference date, and the documents to prove each of them. Missing any one of these can cancel an application, even for a candidate who would have scored well in the exam.
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board ran the last Staff Nurse selection for NHM, and every eligibility rule is fixed in its advertisement. No new Staff Nurse notice was available on 19 October 2026. The conditions below therefore describe the last verified cycle as reported by secondary sources, and they are indicative. Treat them as a way to check yourself early, and confirm each point once the next notice is out.

Educational Qualification
Qualification for the Nurse post
For the contractual Nurse post, secondary reports describe a pass in senior secondary education from a recognised board, followed by a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma from a recognised institution. A few pages mention a degree in nursing as an alternative, but we could not confirm this.
Other nursing posts have different rules
The same advertisement covered several nursing posts, and some of them need more. Public Health Care Nurse, Psychiatric Care Nurse and Nursing Incharge are reported to need a B.Sc. Nursing or an equivalent degree, and tutor posts need higher qualifications. Check the post name on the form. Applying for a post whose qualification you do not hold is a common reason for rejection.
Result date and final-year candidates
Qualifying results normally have to be declared on or before the last date of application. If your final result is pending, do not assume you can apply. Look for a line in the notice that allows final-year or result-awaited candidates, and in its absence assume you cannot.
Recognised institution and percentage
Recognition: The institution and the course should be recognised by the relevant nursing council and the state government.
Minimum marks: No minimum percentage has been reported. If the notice sets one, it will say how grades are converted.
Equivalent qualifications: A foreign or unusual qualification is accepted only if the notice or the government has declared it equivalent.
Nursing Council Registration
Registration with a nursing council is a condition for working as a nurse, and it is routinely checked at document verification. For Rajasthan, this is the Rajasthan Nursing Council. The key points are:
Valid on the date: The registration should be valid on or before the last date of application, according to reports.
Renewal: If your registration needs renewal, complete it before the form opens. A renewal receipt may or may not be accepted, so check.
Registration from another state: A candidate registered elsewhere should read the notice for conditions on transfer or acceptance.
Age Limit and Relaxation
Sources differ on the minimum age, with some saying 18 and others 21, while the upper limit is commonly reported as 40 years. Do not rely on either figure. The notice will state both limits and the date on which age is counted.
How age is calculated
The board counts your age on a reference date given in the advertisement, which may be the first day of a specified year or the closing date. A candidate whose birthday falls close to the date should compute age carefully using the date of birth printed on the Class 10 certificate.
Age relaxation
Category | Upper age relaxation |
|---|---|
General, unreserved | Nil |
SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other reserved groups | As per Rajasthan government rules, years stated in the notice |
Women, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen | As per Rajasthan government rules, years stated in the notice |
Relaxation is usually available only to candidates who are domiciled in Rajasthan and who hold a valid certificate. This is why a category certificate must be in the correct format and date range.
Nationality, Domicile and Category
Nationality: A candidate should be an Indian citizen. Other categories, such as persons of Indian origin, are covered only if the notice says so.
Domicile: Many reservation benefits are for permanent residents of Rajasthan. Candidates from other states may apply in the general category, subject to the notice.
Category certificates: OBC and EWS certificates are time-bound, so a certificate that is too old can be rejected. Keep a fresh copy.
Area-based reservation: Some posts are reserved for scheduled-area candidates. Eligibility depends on the notified area and a proper certificate.
Other Conditions
Computer knowledge: Other NHM posts in the same advertisement asked for basic computer knowledge. Check whether the Nurse post does too, and whether a certificate is needed.
Language: Knowledge of Hindi, written in Devanagari, is commonly expected in Rajasthan government recruitment.
Physical and medical fitness: A candidate should be medically fit for nursing duties. Disability reservation applies only to benchmark disabilities suited to the post.
Character and conduct: Candidates should not have been debarred by a public service body. A false claim can lead to cancellation at any stage.
One application per post: Multiple applications can be rejected. Apply once and keep the printout.
Who May Not Be Eligible
Result awaited: A candidate whose diploma result has not been declared by the closing date.
No registration: A candidate whose nursing council registration is missing or expired without renewal.
Over or under age: A candidate outside the limits on the reference date after relaxation.
Wrong post: A candidate who holds a GNM diploma but applies for a post that requires a nursing degree.
Invalid category claim: A candidate who claims a reservation or age relaxation without a valid certificate.
Documents to Keep Ready
Document | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
Class 10 certificate | Proof of date of birth and name |
Class 12 mark sheet | Proof of senior secondary qualification |
GNM diploma and mark sheets | Proof of professional qualification |
Nursing council registration | Proof of the right to practise |
Category and domicile certificates | Reservation and age relaxation |
Photo ID and photograph | Identity checks at the exam and verification |
The upload size and format are given in the notice. Make sure your name, parents' names and date of birth match across every document, because mismatches slow down verification and may lead to rejection.
