NMTC Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Rules, Results and Awards

NMTC does not have a cut-off in the way a job exam does. AMTI does not publish a qualifying mark, a category-wise cut-off or a list of previous-year cut-off scores. Advancement is rank-based: the top 10% of candidates at each level in the preliminary test are selected for the final, and the final result is a merit list with awards.

This page explains how that rule works, how results are announced, what the awards are, and how to set a realistic target. Every point comes from AMTI's 2025-26 circular unless it is marked as reported by other sources. No score thresholds are given because none have been published.

Since the rule is a share of candidates and not a score, the number of students who advance depends on how many took the test. For example, a level with 50 students in a school would send about 5 names forward, according to a coaching site's illustration. The score needed varies with the difficulty of the paper and the strength of your batch.

How Results Are Declared

  • Preliminary result: The school evaluates the response sheets and announces who has been selected. Reported dates are 4 September 2025 for the previous cycle and 7 September 2026 for the current one. There is no common national scorecard, according to coaching sources.

  • Selection certificate: Selected students receive a certificate that also serves as the hall ticket for the final.

  • Final result: AMTI announces the final results and merit list in the first week of December.

  • Rechecking: The circular says results are checked and cross-checked, and claims for a change in score are not entertained. AMTI's decision is final.

What Affects Your Rank

  • Paper difficulty: About 80% of the Stage 1 paper is higher-order, so scores are usually low in absolute terms.

  • Size of your batch: Because the 10% rule is applied to the registered candidates, a larger batch gives more places.

  • Accuracy: Carefully checked answers matter, since a few marks can change a rank.

  • Reasoning in Stage 2: The final is judged on complete solutions, and interviews may be used to decide merit.

How to Set a Target

Treat the first goal as being in the top tenth of your level in your school, not as reaching a fixed score. Practise with timed sets, note your score as a percentage of the maximum and see how it compares with others who attempt the same set. Testkart online tests, where they are available for NMTC, give analysis that helps with this comparison. Aim for a clear margin above the likely cut-off position and not a bare qualification, because there is no published threshold to rely on.
