Punjab Police Cut Off 2026: Constable Category-wise Marks

The Punjab Police cut off is the minimum normalised Paper I score a candidate needed, in their category, to be shortlisted for the physical tests (PMT and PST). For the 2026 Constable recruitment (3,298 posts), Punjab Police released the category-wise cut-off with the CBT result on 7 October 2026.

Cut-offs change every year with the number of vacancies, the difficulty of the paper and the number of applicants. Treat these figures as a benchmark, and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

The General cut-off dropped by only about 1.4 marks despite the larger number of posts. That small change shows how crowded the top of the merit list is.

Cut-Off vs Qualifying Marks

Do not confuse the two. Every candidate must also score at least 25 out of 50 in the Punjabi Paper II. Paper I has its own minimum qualifying marks of 40% for General and 35% for SC, BC, EWS and ex-servicemen. These minimums only make you eligible for consideration, while the cut-off decides who is actually shortlisted. Clearing the physical tests then takes you to document scrutiny and the final merit list.

How to Set Your Target

  • Aim above the General line: A target of 80 or more in Paper I gives a buffer in most categories, whatever the vacancy count.

  • Secure Paper II first: A high Paper I score is wasted if you miss the Punjabi minimum.

  • Benchmark with mocks: Track your full-length scores against your category's last cut-off, and only treat yourself as safe once you clear it consistently.

Official cut-off PDFs are published on the Punjab Police website.
