Rajasthan Pre D.El.Ed Eligibility 2026: Age Limit, Qualification and Relaxations
Rajasthan Pre D.El.Ed eligibility rules are short, but a small mistake in marks, age or documents can cost you a seat. To apply for the entrance test for the two-year D.El.Ed course, you need to be an Indian citizen, have passed Class 12 with the minimum marks for your category, and fall within the age limit. This page explains each rule for the 2026-27 cycle, with tables for marks and age, and a list of the common reasons applications get into trouble.
The exam is the same one many students still search for as Rajasthan BSTC. For the 2026-27 session it was conducted by Vardhman Mahavir Open University (VMOU), Kota. The rules below come from the notification as reported in exam coverage. Where sources differ or give only one version, we mark the item as indicative and tell you what to confirm.

The official website of the conducting university is https://vmou.ac.in/ and its entrance exam notices are at https://vmou.ac.in/notices-entrance. The candidate portal that the university notice points to is https://predeledraj2026.com/. Always read the notification for your own session, because eligibility can be revised between years.
Nationality and domicile
You must be an Indian citizen to apply. The exam is organised by the state for admission to institutes in Rajasthan, so domicile matters at the counselling stage.
Rajasthan residents: They are considered under state reservation rules for seats in the colleges taking part in counselling.
Candidates from other states: One source reports that a very large share of seats, around 95 percent, is reserved for Rajasthan domicile candidates and that outside candidates compete for the remainder under General merit. Treat this as indicative and confirm the seat rules in the notification before you apply.
Educational qualification
The basic requirement is a pass in Class 12 (Senior Secondary, 10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or university. The notified qualification is meant to include the school boards recognised in Rajasthan and their equivalents.
If your Class 12 result is awaited
Coverage of the 2026 cycle says that candidates appearing in Class 12 in the same year could apply provisionally, but must meet all conditions by the time of counselling and show the passing certificate and marksheet. If you are in this position, keep a close watch on the result date, because a failure to produce the pass certificate at counselling can end your admission.
Subject or stream restrictions
The sources we checked do not mention any stream restriction. Arts, Science and Commerce students are generally treated alike, but the Sanskrit course (see below) may carry its own conditions. Verify this in the notification if you plan to apply for it.
Minimum marks by category
Category | Minimum marks in the qualifying exam |
|---|---|
General | 50 percent |
SC and ST | 45 percent |
OBC, MBC and EWS | 45 percent |
Persons with disability (PwD or Divyang) | 45 percent |
Widowed, divorced or abandoned women (General category) | 45 percent |
The 45 percent figure applies to reserved categories only when you hold a valid certificate in the format required by the state. A certificate issued for another state may not qualify you for the benefit. Check the certificate format and validity date in the notification.
The same percentages are also reported as minimum qualifying marks for the entrance test. Confirm in the notification which of the two rules applies to you, and keep your marksheet percentage safely above the required level.
Age limit and relaxations
The reported age range is a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 28 years for General candidates. Sources differ on the reference date for counting your age. One gives the exam date, 20 May 2026, and another gives 1 June 2026. A candidate whose birthday falls between these two dates should read the notification closely or contact the university helpdesk.
Category | Upper age limit (indicative) |
|---|---|
General | 28 years |
OBC, MBC and EWS | About 31 years (one source only) |
SC and ST | About 33 years (one source only) |
Persons with disability | About 38 years (one source only) |
Widowed, divorced or abandoned women | No upper age limit |
Two sources agree that there is no upper age limit for widowed, divorced and abandoned women. The other figures come from a single third-party page, and other coverage says only that relaxation follows Rajasthan government rules. Treat them as indicative until you confirm them in the official notification.
How to count your age
Take your date of birth from the Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate you will upload.
Count the completed years on the reference date given in the notification.
Compare the result with your category limit in the table above and the notification.
Date of birth can be edited during the correction window, according to coverage of the 2026 cycle, but your documents must support the corrected date. Do not guess; use exactly what is written on your Class 10 certificate.
Other conditions
Course choice: You may apply for the General D.El.Ed course, the Sanskrit course, or both, and the fee changes accordingly. The course type could not be edited after submission in the 2026 correction window, so decide before you apply.
Teaching experience: No prior teaching experience is needed.
Attempts: The sources we checked mention no cap on attempts. If you appeared earlier, you may usually apply again if you meet the age limit.
Medical or physical standards: None are mentioned for the entrance test in the coverage we reviewed. Candidates with disability should check the notification for the benchmark and certificate requirements.
Language: The language paper is in Hindi or Sanskrit, so you should be comfortable with at least one of them.
Who may face problems
Most application issues come from simple mismatches. Watch for these before you pay the fee.
Situation | Why it matters | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Marks below the category minimum | The application can be rejected or admission refused at verification | Check your percentage against the table before applying |
Age above the limit on the reference date | The date of birth on your certificate decides eligibility | Count age carefully with the notified date |
Reserved category claim without a valid certificate | You are treated as General | Get the certificate in the required format early |
Class 12 result not available at counselling | Admission may be cancelled | Keep the pass certificate or marksheet ready |
Fee not paid | The application is treated as incomplete | Save the payment confirmation |
Documents to keep ready
Coverage of the 2026 application lists the following documents. Keep clear scans ready before you open the form.
