Notification Overview
RPSC released the Senior Teacher Competitive Exam 2025 advertisement on 17 July 2025 for 6,500 posts across ten subjects. Online applications ran from 19 August to 17 September 2025 through the Rajasthan SSO portal, and more than 12 lakh candidates reportedly applied.
The vacancy count changed twice before the exam. A corrigendum first raised it to 10,537 posts. A later corrigendum (reported as No. 11/2026-27) brought it to 9,651, because the recruitment rules reportedly allow an increase of only up to 50 percent over the advertised posts. RPSC confirmed the exam would go ahead on schedule, and all other conditions of the original advertisement still apply.
No pattern change: The two-paper structure of 200 and 300 marks stays the same as the previous Senior Teacher cycle.
Five options per question: Each question carries a fifth option to mark if you choose not to answer. Leaving more than 10 percent of questions with no option marked leads to disqualification, a rule RPSC has applied in recent results.
Separate exam for Sanskrit Education: The Sanskrit Education Department runs its own Senior Teacher exam. This page covers the Secondary Education Department exam only.

Register or log in on the Rajasthan SSO portal and complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you have not done it.
Open the Recruitment Portal, select the Senior Teacher advertisement and fill in personal, category and qualification details.
Upload your photograph and signature as specified in the advertisement.
Pay the fee online and keep a printout of the submitted form.
Applications are commonly rejected for a wrong category or domicile claim, a qualification that lacks the required optional subjects, or an education degree not recognised by NCTE. Check these before you submit.
Exam Pattern
The written exam has two objective papers taken on separate days. Paper 1 is common to all subjects within a group, and Paper 2 is subject-specific.
Paper 1: General Knowledge and Educational Psychology
Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
Geographical, historical, cultural and general knowledge of Rajasthan | 40 | 80 | 2 hours (whole paper) |
Current affairs of Rajasthan | 10 | 20 | Within 2 hours |
General knowledge of the world and India | 30 | 60 | Within 2 hours |
Educational psychology | 20 | 40 | Within 2 hours |
Total | 100 | 200 | 2 hours |
Paper 2: Subject paper
Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
Secondary and senior secondary standard of the subject | 90 | 180 | 2 hours 30 minutes (whole paper) |
Graduation standard of the subject | 40 | 80 | Within 2 hours 30 minutes |
Teaching methods of the subject | 20 | 40 | Within 2 hours 30 minutes |
Total | 150 | 300 | 2 hours 30 minutes |
Every question carries 2 marks, and one-third of a question's marks is deducted for each wrong answer.
What this means for you
Paper 2 carries 60 percent of the marks: Subject depth decides merit, so give it the larger share of your time.
Rajasthan GK is the biggest block in Paper 1: It carries 80 of the 200 marks, as much as world and India GK and current affairs put together.
Guessing has a real cost: A wrong answer removes about 0.67 marks, so a blind guess on a four-option question gains nothing on average.
Do not leave too many unmarked: Mark the fifth option for questions you skip, and keep skipped questions under 10 percent.
Older pages may still show the previous cycle's dates or an old vacancy figure, so follow the current advertisement.
Syllabus Summary
Subject | Paper | Important topics |
|---|---|---|
Rajasthan GK | Paper 1 | Geography, economy, ancient and medieval history, freedom struggle, integration, art, culture, folk deities, polity |
Current affairs of Rajasthan | Paper 1 | State schemes, events, sports and appointments |
World and India GK | Paper 1 | World geography, Indian geography and economy, Constitution, foreign policy, national movement |
Educational psychology | Paper 1 | Learning theories, development, intelligence, personality, motivation, individual differences |
Subject content | Paper 2 | Class 9 to 12 level content of your subject plus graduation-level topics |
Teaching methods | Paper 2 | Methods, lesson planning, curriculum, teaching aids and evaluation for your subject |
RPSC publishes a separate topic-wise syllabus for Paper 1 and for each Paper 2 subject.
Selection Process
Written exam: Paper 1 and Paper 2 are both counted. Merit is prepared subject-wise and area-wise (Non-TSP and TSP) on the combined score out of 500.
Minimum qualifying marks: Candidates reportedly need at least 40 percent in each paper (35 percent for SC and ST) to be considered. Confirm the exact rule in the advertisement.
Provisional list and detailed form: Shortlisted candidates fill a detailed application form online through the SSO Recruitment Portal.
Document verification: The Secondary Education Department verifies original documents on a date it announces.
Final result: After verification, RPSC issues the final list and sends recommended names to the department for appointment.
There is no interview for this post.
Salary and Career Growth
Senior Teacher (Grade II) is placed at Pay Matrix Level L-11 under the Rajasthan pay rules, corresponding to the old Grade Pay of Rs. 4,200. New appointees serve a probation period under state rules, during which pay terms can differ from the regular scale.
Dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other allowances are added as per Rajasthan government orders, so in-hand pay varies by posting and changes with DA revisions. This is not an official in-hand figure. Senior Teachers can later move to School Lecturer (Grade I) and administrative posts through promotion or direct recruitment.
How to Prepare
Start with Paper 2 concepts: Work through Class 9 to 12 textbooks of your subject first, then graduation topics. This covers 260 of the 300 marks.
Build Rajasthan GK steadily: Give it a fixed daily slot. History, geography and culture of Rajasthan repeat across RPSC exams.
Treat teaching methods as scoring: Teaching methods and educational psychology carry 80 marks together and draw on a limited set of concepts.
Revise current affairs monthly: Keep short monthly notes on Rajasthan schemes and events for the 10 current affairs questions.
Mock tests and previous papers
Solve previous Senior Teacher papers early to see the real difficulty level, then move to full-length mocks in the two-paper format. For timed practice in the current pattern, you can attempt RPSC 2nd Grade mock tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to plan your revision. Track how many questions you leave unmarked in each mock, given the 10 percent rule.
Cut-off Reference
The table shows the General (UR) cut-off for the Non-Scheduled Area from the provisional lists of the previous cycle (Senior Teacher Competitive Exam 2024), released in early 2026.
Subject | General cut-off, Non-TSP (out of 500) |

Sanskrit | 326.30 |
Mathematics | 289.65 |
Social Science | 286.00 |

These figures are indicative and are taken from press and education-portal reports of RPSC's provisional lists. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. and the official notices are on the RPSC website.
