RPSC School Lecturer Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit and Conditions
RPSC School Lecturer eligibility rests on three things: a postgraduate degree in the subject you apply for, a teaching qualification such as B.Ed., and an age within the limit set by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission. Small differences in subject wording, degree dates or category certificates are the most common reasons applications get rejected, so it pays to check each condition before the form opens.
The conditions below follow the 2025-26 cycle, where applications ran from 14 August to 12 September 2025. A new advertisement will carry its own age reference date, subject-wise qualification text and fee, so treat this page as a planning guide and confirm every detail on https://rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in.

|---|---|

Qualification | Postgraduate degree in the concerned subject plus B.Ed. or equivalent recognised qualification |
Age limit | 21 to 40 years, as on the reference date in the advertisement (1 January 2026 was reported) |
Language | Working knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthani culture |
Age relaxation | For eligible categories as per Rajasthan rules |
Number of attempts | No attempt limit reported; age is the practical limit |
Fee | Rs. 600 or Rs. 400 depending on category |
Educational qualification
A candidate must hold a postgraduate degree or an equivalent qualification in the subject for which the post is advertised, along with a B.Ed. or an equivalent teaching degree or diploma recognised by the relevant authority such as NCTE or UGC. In plain terms, the PG subject decides which subject paper you can choose, and the B.Ed. is the teaching qualification that makes you eligible to teach.
Postgraduate degree
Same subject as the post: A master's degree in History is needed for the History post, in Chemistry for the Chemistry post and so on.
Recognised institution: The degree must come from a university or institution recognised by the relevant authority.
Result date: Your qualifying degrees generally need to be completed by the last date of application or the date specified in the advertisement. Read the exact cut-off date carefully.
Equivalent degrees: A degree with a different name may be accepted only if the notification or an official equivalence order says so. Do not assume equivalence.
B.Ed. or equivalent
Recognised B.Ed.: The course should be recognised by NCTE or the authority named in the advertisement.
Equivalent diplomas: The advertisement may list certain equivalent teaching diplomas. Check the list before assuming yours counts.
Special cases: Posts such as Physical Education, Drawing and Music may carry different teaching requirements, as shown below.
Subject-wise qualification notes
The table below summarises the qualification wording reported for the main groups of subjects in the 2025-26 cycle. It is indicative, and the advertisement's subject-wise wording always prevails.
Subject group | Qualification (indicative) |
|---|---|
Most academic subjects (Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and others) | PG degree in the subject and B.Ed. or equivalent |
Commerce | PG in Commerce with the additional conditions in the advertisement, such as a B.Com. background or teaching subjects |
Physical Education and Coach posts | PG in Physical Education or equivalent plus a diploma or certificate from a recognised sports institution |
Drawing and Music | PG or equivalent in the subject |
Agriculture | Agriculture or Horticulture degree and postgraduate qualification as per the separate advertisement |
If your degree has a specialisation or a different name from the post, read the equivalence orders and notes on the official website before paying the fee, so that you do not apply for a post you may not qualify for.
Age limit and relaxations
The reported age limit is 21 to 40 years. Age is counted as on a reference date given in the advertisement, which was reported as 1 January 2026 for the last cycle. Because this date moves with each cycle, a candidate who was eligible last time can be over age in the next one, and a younger candidate may need to wait until the lower limit is reached.
Category | Upper age relaxation (indicative) |
|---|---|
Rajasthan SC, ST, OBC (male) | 5 years |
Rajasthan SC, ST, OBC (female) | 10 years |
General female | 5 years |
Widows and divorced women | As per Rajasthan rules, with no upper limit in some reported rules |
Persons with disability | Higher relaxation by category, reported between 10 and 15 years |
Relaxation figures above are reported by secondary sources and follow the Rajasthan Recruitment Rules. They apply only to categories of Rajasthan in many cases. Always match them with the advertisement and your certificate type. Where the notification gives a different number, the notification is correct.
Language and other conditions
Hindi in Devanagari: Candidates should have working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script. No separate language test has been reported, but the condition is part of eligibility.
Knowledge of Rajasthani culture: This is listed as a condition and is also tested indirectly through the Rajasthan-based questions in Paper I.
Domicile and category certificates: Reservation and relaxation benefits depend on the category and the state domicile as stated in the advertisement. Certificates must be valid for the cycle and in the correct format.
Special requirements for Coach posts: Coach and Physical Education posts may include sports-related requirements. Read the post-wise rules.
Other service conditions: Appointment follows the department's rules and the conditions listed in the advertisement.
Who is not eligible
Without a B.Ed. or recognised equivalent: A PG degree alone is not enough for School Lecturer.
Whose PG subject does not match the post: You cannot apply for a subject that is not your master's subject unless the advertisement lists an exception.
Outside the age window: Below 21 or above the upper limit after relaxation on the reference date.
Result awaited after the cut-off date: If a qualifying degree is not completed by the date set in the advertisement, the application can be rejected.
With invalid category or domicile proof: Claiming a benefit without a valid certificate can cancel candidature at the verification stage.
With false information: Wrong details in the application can lead to disqualification at any stage, even after selection.
Application fee and documents
For the 2025-26 cycle the reported fee was Rs. 600 for General and creamy-layer categories of Rajasthan, and Rs. 400 for non-creamy-layer OBC, EBC, EWS, SC, ST and PwD categories of Rajasthan. Fee and correction charges can change, so use the fee table in the new advertisement. The complete application steps are given on the RPSC School Lecturer overview page.
Keep these documents ready in scanned form before applying:
Educational documents: Matriculation or date-of-birth proof, all degrees and mark sheets including B.Ed.
Category and domicile proofs: Caste, non-creamy layer, EWS, disability and domicile certificates as applicable.
Identity proof: Aadhaar or another ID used for One Time Registration on the Rajasthan SSO portal.
Photo, signature and thumb impression: Recent images in the specified size.
Eligibility for related School Lecturer posts
RPSC also advertises related posts under similar names, such as School Lecturer in Special Education, Sanskrit Education and Coach. Their conditions are different. For example, the Special Education recruitment has been reported to require a B.Ed. in Special Education or an equivalent diploma recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India, along with valid registration. Those details are indicative, and each post follows its own advertisement.
If you are comparing options, remember that being eligible for one post does not make you eligible for another. Match your degree and teaching qualification against the exact advertisement number.
