RPSC RAS Cut-off: Previous Year Prelims and Mains Marks
The RPSC RAS cut-off is the minimum score that decides who moves ahead at each stage. Two cut-offs matter to you: the Prelims cut-off, which opens the door to the Mains, and the Mains cut-off, which decides who is called for the Interview. No official cut-off exists yet for the 2026 cycle, because the Prelims is scheduled for 6 December 2026. The figures below are from earlier cycles and are benchmarks only. They are taken from secondary reports, so check the result notices on the official RPSC website for the official numbers.
RPSC RAS Prelims Cut-off (Out of 200)
The Prelims is a screening stage, so its cut-off decides who is shortlisted, not who is selected. The figures reported for the 2025 result and for an earlier cycle are shown below for the non-TSP area. Treat them as indicative, because they come from a single secondary source.
Category | Reported cut-off (earlier cycle) | Reported cut-off (2025 result) |
|---|---|---|
General, OBC and EWS (male) | 100.69 | 71.59 |
General, OBC and EWS (female) | 97.03 | 69.80 |
SC (male) | 88.49 | 63.98 |
ST (male) | 92.72 | 67.56 |
RPSC RAS Mains Cut-off (Out of 800)
The Mains cut-off decides the shortlist for the Interview. Two recent results are summarised below, with figures that match across more than one report. They are for general-area male candidates, and the full result notice carries many more rows for women, widows, ex-servicemen and other groups.
Category | Mains result of January 2025 | Mains result of October 2025 |
|---|---|---|
General | 262.00 | 208.50 |
SC | 235.25 | 186.00 |
ST | 249.00 | 191.00 |
Candidates called for Interview | 2,168 | 2,461 |
What the Trend Tells You
Cut-offs have not moved in a straight line. The reported Prelims figure for General candidates fell from about 100 to about 72 between the two cycles shown, and the Mains figure fell from 262.00 to 208.50. A lower number does not mean an easier exam. It reflects that cycle's paper, vacancies and candidate performance, so do not treat any single year as a promise.
What Affects the Cut-off
Difficulty of the paper: A harder paper pushes raw scores down and lowers the cut-off.
Number of vacancies: The Mains shortlist is tentatively about 15 times the vacancies, so more posts mean a larger shortlist.
Number of candidates: More strong candidates raise the score needed to stay in the shortlist.
Category and area: Cut-offs differ by category, gender and the type of area, so compare only with your own row.
How to Set Your Target Score
Pick a margin, not a pass mark: Aim at least 15 to 20 marks above the last General Prelims figure for your category, because that range can shift.
Count accuracy, not attempts: With one-third negative marking, a score of 110 from 125 attempts is safer than the same score from 150.
Benchmark with mocks: Take timed full-length tests and track the average of your last five scores against your target.
