RSMSSB JE Syllabus 2026: Subject-wise Topics
The RSMSSB JE syllabus has two parts: Rajasthan General Knowledge and the engineering subject of your branch (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical). The exam is conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (formerly RSMSSB) for Junior Engineer posts under Advertisement No. 10/2026. This page lists the topics to cover in each part and shows how to plan them.
The board names the subjects in its notification but does not publish a long topic-wise syllabus. The topic lists below are built from the official subject structure and from questions asked in earlier Junior Engineer papers. Use them as a working checklist, not as an official list.

Syllabus at a glance
Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
Part A | Rajasthan General Knowledge | 40 | 40 |
Part B | Engineering subject of your branch | 80 | 80 |
Rajasthan General Knowledge syllabus
Area | Topics to cover | Start with |
|---|---|---|
History | Ancient and medieval Rajasthan, Rajput dynasties, 1857 and freedom movement, integration of princely states | Major dynasties and the stages of integration |
Art and culture | Fairs and festivals, folk music and dance, painting schools, handicrafts, forts and temples, saints and folk deities | Fairs, folk art and painting schools |
Geography | Physical regions, rivers and lakes, climate, soils, minerals, agriculture, wildlife and national parks | Regions, rivers and minerals |
Polity and administration | State government structure, High Court, commissions, local bodies, important state schemes | Governor, Assembly and Panchayati Raj |
Economy | Irrigation and power projects, industries, state budget basics, development schemes | Irrigation projects and industries |
Because 40 marks come from facts, steady revision matters more than long study sessions. Short notes and weekly revision are the best way to hold this section.
Civil Engineering syllabus
Civil carries the most vacancies, so most aspirants prepare this branch. Topics below apply to both degree and diploma posts, though the depth of questions can differ.
Structural subjects
Engineering mechanics and strength of materials: Forces, equilibrium, stress and strain, bending moment and shear force, deflection, torsion, columns.
Structural analysis and design: Determinate and indeterminate structures, plain and reinforced concrete basics, steel structure basics.
Building materials and construction: Cement, aggregates, bricks, timber, concrete properties, masonry, foundations, finishing works.
Geotechnical and water subjects
Soil mechanics and foundation engineering: Soil properties, classification, permeability, consolidation, shear strength, bearing capacity.
Fluid mechanics and hydraulics: Fluid properties, pressure, flow measurement, flow in pipes and open channels.
Irrigation engineering: Crop water requirement, canals, dams, weirs, canal structures, water management.
Environmental engineering: Water supply, water treatment, sewage and waste water, air and noise pollution.
Planning and field subjects
Surveying: Chain, compass, levelling, theodolite, contouring, curves.
Transportation engineering: Highway planning, pavement design, traffic basics, railways.
Estimation, costing and valuation: Quantity estimation, rate analysis, specifications, contracts and tenders.
Construction management: Planning techniques such as CPM and PERT, site safety, equipment.

How to cover the syllabus
Weeks 1 to 6, concepts: Finish the high-weight subjects of your branch and make short notes. Study Rajasthan GK for 30 minutes daily.
Weeks 7 to 10, practice: Take topic-wise tests, then 20 to 30 minute sectional tests. Practise RSMSSB JE topic-wise tests on Testkart and note the chapters where accuracy is low.
Weeks 11 to 14, revision: Revise your formula sheet and Rajasthan GK notes weekly.
Final phase, full mocks: Attempt full-length papers, analyse them the same day and revise your error log.
