SBI CBO Cut Off: Qualifying Marks and Merit Explained

SBI does not publish a category-wise SBI CBO cut-off in the documents released for the 2026 cycle (Advertisement No. CRPD/CBO/2025-26/18). The final result lists roll numbers, and each candidate can see only their own marks through a login page. What the advertisement does explain is how qualifying marks and merit work, and that is enough to set a sensible target.

How Cut-Off Works in SBI CBO

There are three points where marks decide your progress. The Bank fixes the qualifying levels, and none of them is announced in advance.

Stage

What decides progress

Published by SBI?

Online test (170 marks)

Minimum qualifying aggregate set by the Bank, then Circle-wise and category-wise merit to select about three times the vacancies for interview

No figure in the advertisement or result

Interview (50 marks)

Minimum qualifying marks decided by the Bank

No figure in the advertisement or result

Final merit (100 marks)

Online test converted to 75 and interview to 25, ranked Circle-wise and category-wise

Provisional final result dated 24 July 2026 lists roll numbers only

Two features make the SBI CBO cut-off different from other bank exams. There is no sectional cut-off, because sectional marks are not maintained. And there is no single national cut-off, because every Circle and category has its own merit line.

What Affects the Cut-Off

  • Vacancies in your Circle: Circles with more posts, such as Bengaluru, Kolkata and Lucknow (200 regular posts each in the 2026 round), call more candidates for interview.

  • Number of applicants: More candidates for the same Circle raise the level needed.

  • Paper difficulty: A harder Banking Knowledge or English section lowers average scores.

  • Category: Merit lists are category-wise, so reserved categories are compared within their own group.

How to Set Your Target Score

Since SBI gives no official benchmark, build your own from the merit formula. The online test counts for 75 of the final 100 marks, so each mark in the 170-mark test is worth about 0.44 final marks.

  1. Aim for a clear margin: Treat any older figure you read online as a rough guide only, and aim for a comfortable margin above it rather than a bare pass.

  2. Protect the objective test: With no negative marking, attempt all 120 questions and aim for steady accuracy in every section.

  3. Score well in the descriptive test: It carries 50 marks, nearly 30% of the online total.

  4. Track mock averages: Take timed SBI CBO mock tests on Testkart and look at your average over five or more attempts, not a single high score.

Example: An online score of 110 out of 170 converts to 48.53 out of 75. A 35 out of 50 interview converts to 17.50 out of 25. The final score is 66.03 out of 100.

Where to Check Official Information

Results, marks and notices appear on the SBI careers page. Official CBO marks lookup for the 2026 round: https://sbi.bank.in/web/careers/cbo-marks-2026-rs

Cut-off tables on other websites are unofficial estimates, and some mix up different rounds or exams. Use them with caution, and always check which advertisement number a figure belongs to before you compare it with your own scores.
