SSC Havaldar Eligibility 2025: Age, Qualification, PET/PST

SSC Havaldar eligibility for the 2025 cycle needs a Matriculation (Class 10) pass, an age of 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2025, Indian citizenship or another listed status, and the physical standards for the post. The rules come from the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) notice for the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff and Havaldar (CBIC and CBN) Examination, 2025, dated 26 June 2025.

Both the age and education cut-off date for this cycle was 1 August 2025, so a candidate who met the conditions on that date was eligible. Read this page to check your age window, category relaxation and physical fit before the next cycle opens. Dates and limits can change in a new notice, so confirm them on the official site.

Educational Qualification

You must have passed the Matriculation examination or an equivalent from a recognised board on or before 1 August 2025. No higher degree is needed for the Havaldar post.

  • Result date matters: The board must have declared your result by the cut-off date. A result still being processed by that date does not count.

  • Equivalent qualifications: You must produce an equivalence certificate at document verification, and the final decision rests with the user department.

  • Distance learning: Degrees and certificates through open and distance learning count only if the institution is recognised and approved by the Distance Education Bureau of the University Grants Commission for the relevant period.

Document verification takes place after the final result, and you must show your original certificates then. Without them your candidature is cancelled.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The age limit for Havaldar in CBIC and CBN is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2025. The MTS post has a lower limit of 18 to 25 years for most vacancies, so make sure you are checking the right post.

The date of birth in your application must match the Matriculation or Secondary Examination certificate. A mismatch is a ground for rejection, and a later change is not allowed.

The crucial date for claiming SC, ST, OBC, PwBD or ESM status was the closing date for applications. OBC candidates must not fall in the creamy layer, and EWS candidates need an income and asset certificate for the relevant financial year.

Nationality

A candidate must be one of these:

  • Indian citizen: No further certificate is needed on nationality grounds.

  • Subject of Nepal or Bhutan: A certificate of eligibility from the Government of India is required.

  • Person of Indian origin: Someone who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or certain East African countries or Vietnam to settle permanently in India, with a certificate of eligibility.

Candidates who need an eligibility certificate may sit the exam, but an offer of appointment follows only after the certificate is issued.
