SSC JHT Cut-Off: Previous Year Category-wise Marks

The SSC JHT cut-off is the minimum score a category needed to move to the next stage of the Combined Hindi Translators Examination. SSC sets category-wise cut-offs in Paper-I to shortlist candidates for Paper-II, may set separate cut-offs in Paper-II, and then prepares the final merit from 50% of Paper-I marks and 100% of Paper-II marks.

The figures on this page come from official SSC result notices. The Paper-I result of the 2026 cycle, held on 8 September 2026, had not been declared when this page was last checked, so the 2026 cut-off is not yet available. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants, so treat previous figures as a benchmark only and aim for a clear margin above them rather than a bare pass.

These figures equal the minimum qualifying marks (30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, 20% for others) and apply only to that shortlist. They are not the final selection cut-off. SSC said the final result for all posts of the 2025 cycle would be declared after the CRPF physical tests, so check ssc.gov.in for the final cut-off when it is published.

Previous Cycle Reference: 2024

In the 2024 cycle, the Paper-I result was declared on 14 February 2025 and 2,146 candidates were shortlisted for Paper-II, which was held on 29 March 2025. The final result, declared on 25 July 2025, filled all 272 vacancies: 151 UR, 42 SC, 22 ST, 38 OBC and 19 EWS. SSC published department-wise marks of the last selected candidate rather than a single overall cut-off, so the final cut-off varies by post and department.

Trend and What Affects the Cut-Off

With only a few cycles of official data and the pattern stable, there is not enough to project a reliable trend. The main factors are clear, though:

  • Vacancies: More vacancies usually mean more candidates shortlisted and a lower cut-off.

  • Number of applicants: Eligibility needs a Master's degree and a translation qualification, so the field is smaller than in most SSC exams, but competition within it is close.

  • Paper difficulty: A harder Hindi or English section pulls the cut-off down for everyone.

  • Normalisation: If Paper-I runs in more than one shift, normalised scores decide the cut-off.

How to Set Your Target

  • Paper-I target: For UR candidates, aim for at least 130 out of 200 in mocks, a clear margin above the 2025 cut-off of 119.25. Reserved category candidates should set their target well above their own category's last figure.

  • Balance both parts: Aim for no less than 60 in each of General Hindi and General English, so one weak section does not sink your total.

  • Paper-II matters more: Clearing Paper-I only opens the door. Paper-II counts twice as much in the final merit, so keep translation and essay practice going alongside Paper-I preparation.
