Mock Tests
View allUP Super TET 2026 is the popular name for the Assistant Teacher (Primary) recruitment examination in Uttar Pradesh, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj. The commission released Advertisement No. 05/2026 on 15 September 2026 for 12,405 posts, and the written exam is scheduled for 3 and 4 December 2026.
One point causes confusion, so it is worth clearing up first. Despite the name, Super TET is not a teacher eligibility test. It is a recruitment exam, and you must already hold a valid TET or CTET Paper I certificate to apply. This page explains the notification, dates, vacancies, eligibility, fee, exam pattern, syllabus, selection process, salary and a practical way to prepare. Details below follow the UPESSC advertisement as reported on 22 October 2026, so always confirm final dates on the official website.

Notification overview
This is the first primary teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh to be run by UPESSC. The advertisement covers two groups of posts: Assistant Teacher (Primary) in urban areas under the Basic Education Department, and Assistant Teacher in aided primary schools under the Secondary Education Department.
Three things stand out in this cycle:
Single written exam: Merit is decided by the 360-mark written exam. The notification lists written exam, document verification and final selection as the stages.
Negative marking: Each wrong answer costs 1 mark, so guessing needs a plan.
Tentative vacancy count: The commission has said the number of posts may change, so treat 12,405 as the figure at the time of notification.
Rural primary posts are not part of this advertisement. Candidate groups have asked for them to be added, but there is no official announcement, so do not plan around it. For a quick explainer on the recruitment, you can also read our UP Super TET 2026 recruitment explained.

Vacancy details
The 12,405 posts are split between urban primary schools and aided primary schools. The category-wise figures below are as reported from the advertisement tables, and the district-wise break-up is given in the annexure of the official notification.
Category | Urban primary (Basic Education) | Aided primary (Secondary Education) |
|---|---|---|
General | 4,746 | 378 |
OBC | 3,069 | 164 |
SC | 2,379 | 348 |
EWS | 1,116 | 7 |
ST | 198 | 0 |

Vacancies vary sharply by district. Reports on the annexure show the largest urban numbers in Bareilly, Kanpur Nagar and Meerut, and very few posts in districts such as Shravasti and Chitrakoot. Check your preferred districts in the annexure before you plan your choices. These figures are indicative until the commission confirms them.
Eligibility criteria
The full rules are on our UP Super TET eligibility page. In short, you need:
Graduation: a degree from a recognised university.
Teacher training: BTC or D.El.Ed (the BTC course now runs under the D.El.Ed name), or the B.El.Ed course, as listed in the advertisement.
TET: a valid TET (UPTET or CTET) certificate for Classes 1 to 5. Candidates still waiting for a TET result cannot apply.
Nationality: only Indian citizens may apply.
Age limit
For urban posts, the age limit is 21 to 40 years as on 1 July 2026. For aided primary posts, the minimum age is 21 years and the upper limit is 62 years. Relaxation is given as per the advertisement, for example 5 years for UP SC, ST and OBC candidates and 15 years for UP Divyang candidates. Candidates outside Uttar Pradesh do not get the state reservation benefit and are treated as unreserved.
Application fee and how to apply
Category | Fee |
|---|---|
General, unreserved, OBC, EWS and others | Rs. 1,000 |
SC and ST | Rs. 500 |
Divyang | Rs. 300 |
Follow these steps on the official portal:
Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPESSC portal if you have not done so, and note your OTR login details.
Log in and select Advertisement No. 05/2026 for Assistant Teacher.
Fill in personal, educational and category details carefully.
Upload your photograph, signature and certificates in the size and format asked for in the notification.
Pay the fee online and submit the form.
Save the final submitted form and the payment receipt.
Keep your Class 10 certificate, graduation and teacher training marksheets, TET or CTET certificate and category or Divyang certificate ready before you start. Most rejections come from a mismatch between the entered details and the certificates, or from an unpaid fee, so use the correction window to fix errors.
Exam pattern
The written exam has 120 multiple-choice questions for 360 marks, to be solved in 2 hours. Each correct answer earns 3 marks, and each wrong or multiple-marked answer loses 1 mark. The paper is bilingual, in Hindi and English, and is OMR-based.
Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
Hindi, Sanskrit and English | 30 | 90 |
General Knowledge and Current Affairs | 25 | 75 |
Mathematics | 16 | 48 |
Science | 8 | 24 |
Environment and Social Studies | 8 | 24 |
Teaching Skills | 8 | 24 |
Child Psychology | 8 | 24 |
Life Skills, Management and Attitude | 8 | 24 |
Logical Reasoning | 5 | 15 |
Information Technology | 4 | 12 |
Total | 120 | 360 |
The subject-wise split is as reported from the notification and should be checked against the official document. Older pages may still show a 150-question, 150-mark paper with no negative marking. That was the earlier pattern, so follow the current notification. The UP Super TET exam pattern page goes deeper into marking and time management.
What this means for you
Language and GK carry the most marks: together they are 55 of 120 questions, so they decide your rank.
One minute per question: 120 minutes for 120 questions leaves little room for slow reading.
Blind guessing does not pay: with 4 options, +3 for right and -1 for wrong averages out to zero, but removing even one option makes a guess worthwhile.
Syllabus summary
The advertisement points to the syllabus published on the UPESSC website. Academic subjects are reported to be at Class 12 level and the professional subjects at D.El.Ed level. The topic lists below are a working summary built from the notification and reported syllabus, so use the official document as the final reference.
Subject | Important topics |
|---|---|
Hindi, Sanskrit, English | Grammar, unseen passages, comprehension |
General Knowledge and Current Affairs | Current events, awards, sports, culture, personalities |
Mathematics | Percentage, profit and loss, ratio, algebra, geometry, statistics |
Science and Environment | Motion, force, energy, human body, natural resources, geography, Constitution |
Teaching Skills and Child Psychology | Teaching methods, learning theories, inclusive education, assessment |
Reasoning, IT, Life Skills | Series, coding-decoding, ICT in teaching, professional ethics |

Selection process
Written exam: the 360-mark paper decides merit.
Document verification: shortlisted candidates are called with original certificates.
Final selection: subject to the commission's decision and district or school allotment.
The notification does not mention an interview. Some pages still show weightage for Class 10, Class 12 and graduation marks, which belongs to older recruitment rules. Rely on the notification, which bases merit on the written exam.
Salary and career growth
Both posts are placed in Pay Level 6, with a pay scale of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400. This is the scale, not the take-home amount. In-hand pay depends on allowances and deductions, and it varies by district and posting, so no fixed figure is given here. Assistant Teachers can move up through departmental promotion to senior posts in the basic education system, as per service rules.
How to prepare for UP Super TET
Because the paper has ten subjects in 120 questions, breadth matters more than depth in any one area. A simple plan:
Weeks 1 to 4: cover Hindi grammar, English basics, Maths up to percentage and ratio, and child psychology concepts.
Weeks 5 to 8: add science, environment and social studies, teaching skills, reasoning and ICT. Start a daily current affairs habit of 30 minutes with monthly notes.
Weeks 9 to 12: take subject-wise tests, then full-length papers under the 120-minute limit.
Final phase: analyse each mock the same day and revise from an error log.
Timed practice in the exact pattern is what builds speed with negative marking. You can attempt UP Super TET online tests on Testkart and use the section-wise analysis to find weak subjects, and pair them with previous year questions from related UP teaching exams to understand the question style.
Cut-off reference
No cut-off exists yet for this pattern, because it is the first exam of this kind. The nearest reference is the 2019 UP Assistant Teacher recruitment exam, held on 6 January 2019, where the qualifying percentage was reported as 65 percent for general and 60 percent for reserved categories. That paper had a different structure, so use it only as a rough benchmark. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, vacancies and the number of applicants. Aim for a clear margin above any benchmark rather than a bare pass. The UP Super TET cut-off page explains how to set a realistic target.
