UP Super TET Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit and TET Rules

UP Super TET eligibility 2026 depends on three things: a graduation degree, a recognised primary teacher training qualification and a valid TET or CTET certificate for Classes 1 to 5. The recruitment is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) under Advertisement No. 05/2026 for 12,405 Assistant Teacher (Primary) posts.

Eligibility is where many applications go wrong, because different websites quote different age limits and qualifications. This page follows the advertisement as reported on 22 October 2026 and flags the points where secondary sources disagree. Check every rule against the notification on https://upessc.up.gov.in before you apply or pay the fee.

Educational qualification

The advertisement covers two groups of posts, and the qualification is broadly the same for both.

Urban primary posts (Basic Education Department)

  • Graduation: a bachelor's degree from a recognised university.

  • Training: BTC or D.El.Ed recognised for primary teaching, or the B.El.Ed course. The notification states that the BTC course now runs under the name D.El.Ed.

  • TET: a qualifying TET for Classes 1 to 5 conducted by a state or the central government.

Aided primary posts (Secondary Education Department)

  • Graduation, BTC or D.El.Ed and TET for Classes 1 to 5, as reported from the advertisement.

Some websites mention a minimum of 50 percent in graduation and list other qualifications such as B.Ed (Special Education). We could not match these conditions to the notification text we reviewed, so do not rely on them. Look at the qualification clause in the advertisement itself, and if your qualification is unusual, such as a Special BTC, an Urdu BTC or an RCI-approved special education diploma, check that it is explicitly listed.

Always keep the final result of your training course ready. Candidates whose result has not been declared by the application deadline may have their application rejected, so check the result cut-off conditions in the notification.

TET and CTET requirement

This is the point that surprises many first-time applicants. Super TET is a recruitment exam, and it does not replace the TET. You need a valid certificate before you apply.

  • Accepted: a qualifying TET for Classes 1 to 5, such as UPTET Paper I or CTET Paper I, as stated in the advertisement.

  • Not accepted: a TET result that has not yet been declared. Candidates still waiting for a result cannot apply.

  • Paper II only: a Paper II (Classes 6 to 8) certificate alone is not what the primary-level advertisement asks for. One secondary source mentions Paper 2, which conflicts with the notification, so confirm in the official document.

CTET certificates are lifetime valid under current central rules, while UPTET validity is decided by the state, so check the validity stated on your certificate. If you hold a certificate from another state, check whether the advertisement accepts it.

One coaching website lists OBC relaxation as 3 years and Divyang relaxation as 10 years, which differs from the notification text. Follow the advertisement. Relaxation applies to candidates of Uttar Pradesh, and the exact conditions for each category, such as the certificate format, are given in the notification.

Nationality, domicile and reservation

  • Nationality: only Indian citizens can apply.

  • Reservation: vertical reservation for SC, ST, OBC and EWS applies to candidates of Uttar Pradesh, according to the advertisement tables. Horizontal reservation covers Divyang candidates, dependents of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.

  • Candidates from other states: they do not get the Uttar Pradesh reservation benefit and are treated as unreserved candidates.

  • Certificates: category, EWS and Divyang certificates must be in the format required in the notification and valid for the application date.

Who is not eligible

You will not qualify if any of the following applies:

  • You do not hold a TET or CTET certificate for Classes 1 to 5, or your result is pending.

  • Your training course is not listed or recognised as required, or its result is not declared.

  • You are under 21 or above the maximum age after relaxation on 1 July 2026.

  • You are not an Indian citizen.

  • You have not completed the One Time Registration and application with the fee on time.

Eligibility is checked again during document verification, so a candidate who passes the written exam can still be rejected if any condition is not met.

Dates that affect eligibility

The last date to apply and pay the fee was 15 October 2026 in the original advertisement. It has been reported as extended to 28 October 2026, and the correction window as extended to 31 October 2026. These extended dates come from news reports of a commission notice and should be confirmed on the official site. Eligibility is judged as on the dates in the advertisement, not on the date you submit the form.

Special provisions for Divyang candidates

The notification lists horizontal reservation for several Divyang categories, such as visual, locomotor and hearing impairment, and thalassemia. It also mentions that a Divyang candidate can request a scribe in the written exam, with 20 extra minutes. The exact disability percentage and certificate format are in the advertisement, so read that section before applying.

Checking your eligibility step by step

  1. Confirm your TET: check that the certificate is for Classes 1 to 5 and the result is declared.

  2. Match your training course: compare its exact name with the list in the advertisement.

  3. Calculate age: use 1 July 2026 as the reference date and add the relaxation that applies to your category.

  4. Verify your documents: names and dates of birth must match across all certificates, because mismatches lead to rejection.

  5. Apply and review: submit the form, then use the correction window to fix errors.
