TS ICET Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Marks and Closing Ranks Explained
The TS ICET cut off works at two levels. The first is the qualifying mark you need to receive a rank at all. The second is the closing rank at each college and course in counselling, which decides whether you actually get a seat. TG ICET, as the exam is now officially called, is conducted on behalf of the Telangana Council of Higher Education for MBA and MCA admissions.
This page gives the official qualifying marks, the 2026 result figures, and a practical way to set your own score target. Cut-offs change every year with difficulty, seats and the number of applicants, so treat past figures as a benchmark only.
Table of Contents
TS ICET Qualifying Marks
Category | Qualifying marks (out of 200) |
|---|---|
OC and BC | 50 (25%) |
SC and ST | No minimum prescribed |
These qualifying marks are fixed by the notification and have stayed the same across recent cycles. Scoring 50 only gets you a rank. It does not guarantee a seat in any college.

How College-wise Closing Ranks Work
In counselling, seats are filled in rank order. The last rank admitted to a college, course and category in a round is its closing rank, which is what most students mean by the TS ICET cut off. Closing ranks differ by:
College: Well-known university and Hyderabad colleges close at much lower (better) ranks.
Course: MBA and MCA have separate seat pools and separate closing ranks.
Category and gender: Each reservation category has its own closing rank.
Local status: 85% of convener seats go to local candidates, so local and unreserved closing ranks differ.
Round: Closing ranks usually move after each phase as seats are vacated.
Reported figures for 2025-26 show 35,141 of 40,601 MBA seats and 5,420 of 9,360 MCA seats were filled. Seats do remain at many colleges, but competition is intense at the most preferred ones. What Affects the TS ICET Cut Off
Paper difficulty and normalisation: A harder session lowers raw scores, and normalisation adjusts for it.
Number of candidates: More candidates at a given score push ranks further back.
Seat availability: Changes in approved seats change how far down the ranks counselling goes.
Preferences: Popular colleges fill early, raising their competition every year.
How to Set Your Target Score
Pick your target colleges first: Note the colleges and course you want, then look up their previous closing ranks in official allotment data.
Aim for a clear margin: Target a score comfortably above what was needed for that rank last year, not the bare minimum.
Track your mock average: Your average across recent full-length mocks is a better predictor than your best score.
Use all 200 questions: With no negative marking, every unattempted question is a lost chance.
