Teaching Exams

TS TET

TS TET is a recruitment exam, relevant to aspirants preparing for teaching and education-sector recruitment.

The Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test, known as TS TET and now also written as TG TET, is the state-level test that decides who can be considered for a teaching post in Classes 1 to 8 in Telangana. It is conducted by the School Education Department, Government of Telangana, in two papers: Paper 1 for Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for Classes 6 to 8. Passing TS TET makes you eligible. It does not by itself give you a job.

This page covers the latest verified session (June 2026), the extra test held for in-service teachers, eligibility, fee, pattern, syllabus, qualifying marks, results and a preparation plan. Dates, fees and rules come from the official notification as reported by the department and the press, and anything we could not confirm is marked as tentative. Always read the latest Information Bulletin on the official portal before you apply.

The notification first announced the test window as 15 to 30 June 2026. The detailed schedule released later fixed the exam between 16 and 22 June, and many websites still show the older window. Follow the dates printed on your hall ticket.

January 2026 session

The January 2026 session was held on multiple dates between 3 and 31 January 2026 in computer-based mode, with the result following in the second week of February 2026. These dates were taken from media and education-portal reports, so treat them as indicative.

Next session

As of 29 October 2026, we could not find an official notification for the next session. Based on the pattern of recent years, a notification in spring with an exam around June is possible, but that is only a pattern and not an announcement. Tentative dates come from earlier schedules and can change. Track the official portal and your registered email.

Special TS TET for In-Service Teachers

After the Supreme Court ruling that made TET mandatory for in-service teachers, Telangana conducted a separate TET for teachers already working in government, aided and local body schools. A fresh notification was issued on 21 July 2026 and the computer-based test was held in early September 2026, around 7 to 9 September as per media reports. The result was announced around 26 September 2026, with 15,749 of 22,477 candidates who appeared qualifying (70.07%).

Media reports also say the deadline for in-service teachers to qualify has been extended to August 2028. This is a reported figure, so confirm it with the department if it affects you. If you are a fresh graduate or a D.El.Ed or B.Ed student, you apply in the regular session, not in this special test.

TS TET Eligibility in Brief

The rules follow NCTE norms and are published in the Information Bulletin of each session. The summary below reflects what was reported for the recent sessions. The full rules, including relaxations and transitional cases, are on the TS TET eligibility page.

Paper 1 (Classes 1 to 5)

  • Academic base: Intermediate or senior secondary with at least 50% marks, with a lower minimum for reserved categories.

  • Professional qualification: A two-year D.El.Ed, a four-year B.El.Ed or a two-year Diploma in Special Education, passed or in the final year.

Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8)

  • Academic base: A bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks, with a lower minimum for reserved categories.

  • Professional qualification: B.Ed or B.Ed (Special Education), passed or in the final year. A four-year integrated B.A.Ed or B.Sc.Ed also qualifies.

There is no limit on the number of attempts, and candidates who have already qualified can reappear to improve their score. Reports of recent sessions describe no upper age limit.

Steps to apply

  1. Open the official TG TET portal and read the Information Bulletin fully.

  2. Complete the one-time registration with your basic details.

  3. Fill in personal, educational and contact details, and choose your paper or both papers.

  4. Select your preferred exam districts. Final allotment depends on availability and is shown on the hall ticket.

  5. Upload your photograph and signature, and pay the fee online.

  6. Save the confirmation page and keep a printout.

Keep these documents ready: Aadhaar, Class 10 certificate for date of birth, marksheets and certificates of Intermediate, graduation and your D.El.Ed or B.Ed, and caste or disability certificates where you claim a concession. A mismatch between the name or date of birth on your application and your certificates is a common reason for trouble later, so check every entry before you submit.

TS TET Exam Pattern in Brief

Both papers have 150 multiple-choice questions of one mark each, to be solved in 2 hours 30 minutes. There is no negative marking, so you should attempt every question. Sessions are held in two shifts a day, reported as 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Selection for TS TET is a single computer-based test, with no interview. A TET certificate is the entry ticket for teacher recruitment in Telangana, and the TET score is reported to carry 20% weightage in the recruitment test, with the rest decided by the recruitment exam itself. Because of this, a score well above the minimum can help you later. Qualifying also does not guarantee a posting, as appointments depend on vacancies and the recruitment process. The TS TET cut-off page explains how to set a target score.

The certificate is widely reported to be valid for life under NCTE norms. Check the validity line in the Information Bulletin, because older certificates may follow the rule in force when they were issued.

How to Prepare for TS TET

Start with the pattern, because it tells you where the marks are. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I and English together make up 90 of the 150 marks in both papers. These are the most predictable sections, so build them first.

  • Learn pedagogy as concepts: Questions test whether you can apply a theory or teaching method to a classroom situation, so examples matter more than definitions.

  • Use school textbooks for content: The subject sections are based on school-level content, so revise from the textbooks of the classes you will teach, and add the Telangana-specific areas in Environmental Studies and Social Studies.

  • Do not skip English: Language II is a full 30 marks. Grammar and comprehension are the quickest marks if you practise daily.

  • Attempt every question: With no negative marking, a blank is always a lost chance. Practise making informed guesses.

Once you have covered the syllabus once, shift to timed practice.

A simple order works well for most candidates. Spend the first few weeks on concepts in Child Development and Pedagogy and your subject. Add topic-wise tests as each unit finishes. In the last phase, take full-length papers in the exam shift timing, and use previous papers to understand the difficulty level.
