TS TET Cut Off 2026: Qualifying Marks by Category
TS TET does not work like a recruitment exam with a rank-based cut-off that changes every year. It is an eligibility test with fixed minimum qualifying percentages for each category. If you score at least the minimum for your category in a paper, you qualify in that paper. This page shows the qualifying marks reported for the latest verified session, June 2026, and explains how to set a target above them.
TS TET Qualifying Marks by Category
Category | Minimum percentage | Marks out of 150 |
|---|---|---|
General and EWS | 60% | 90 |
BC | 50% | 75 |
SC, ST and differently abled (PwD) | 40% | 60 |
The percentages are as reported from the notification, and the marks out of 150 are our calculation from them. The rule applies to each paper separately, and there is no negative marking in the pattern, so your score is simply the number of correct answers. A few websites show different figures, so confirm the numbers in the current Information Bulletin on https://tgtet.aptonline.in/.
Past Results as a Benchmark
Pass rates tell you how many candidates cleared these minimum marks. The figures below come from news reports of the department's data, so treat them as indicative.
Session | Candidates appeared | Qualified | Pass rate |
|---|---|---|---|
January 2026 | 1,95,181 | 1,00,270 | 51.37% |
June 2026 | 1,15,028 | 50,544 | 43.94% |
In the January 2026 session, the reported pass rates by category were 69.68% for SC, 54.28% for ST, 48.82% for BC and 31.14% for General. The General category has the highest bar at 60%, and its pass rate was the lowest. In June 2026, fresh candidates passed Paper 1 at 67.96%, Paper 2 (Mathematics and Science) at 41.44% and Paper 2 (Social Studies) at 26.30%.
What Affects Your Chances
Paper and subject group: The pass rate is much lower in Paper 2, especially in Social Studies, so the same score target needs more preparation there.
Paper difficulty: Because the qualifying percentage is fixed, a tougher paper lowers the pass rate rather than the cut-off.
Category: Your required score depends on your category, so work from your own number and not the General figure.
How to Set Your Target Score
Aim for a clear margin above the minimum rather than a bare pass. Scores in the real test are usually a little lower than in practice because of exam pressure. A good rule is to add 15 to 20 marks to your category figure.
General and EWS: Target 105 or more in practice tests.
BC: Target 90 or more.
SC, ST and PwD: Target 75 or more.
